Jehovah's Witness: Examining the Top 5 Reasons How the Governing Body Goes Beyond Biblical Teachings 

I was at the Kingdom Hall when they were studying the February 1, 2017 Watchtower. My jaw dropped when I saw that paragraph that said “The Governing Body is neither inspired nor infallible. Therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters, or in organizational direction.” That means that their teachings are not from God, but are their own interpretations - their speculations, their opinions. And they might be right, or they might not be.

No drama, no scandals...I appreciate how this channel focuses on educating us on the culture of Jehovah's witnesses , while inspiring us to see thier is life after watchtower. Thank you for sharing these videos.

Before my Grandfather passed in 2011, I remember chatting with him and he said, I wonder what will happen to all the satellites in space when the new system comes. He looked up to the sky as he said that. Here we are 11 years later and that question has me scratching my head.

I love that intro conversation! Yeah, all of the governing bodies speculations are laughable. With every new light is a new laugh, LOL.

You know guys this speculation or as I felt was going beyond the scriptures, was one of the first things that made me question the WT. It was the early 70's when the GB started telling us what kind of sex was appropriate in a marriage . I saw then that they were way out of the actual scriptures and this began my awakening out of the WT. It still took another 8 yrs, but I finally found my way out. Keep up the good work friends .

I love this. I don't know why JWs put so much emphasis on things that AREN'T IN THE BIBLE. The whole structure is not biblical, a lot of rules, shunning and disfellowshiping.

Great point for #3: “New Light” is their secret sauce to keep their message from getting stale. Remember how we all used to look forward to the District convention new releases to see if there were any “new light?”

I've heard it called "weasel words" other phrases used include "seems", "seems reasonable to conclude", "apparently ". Of course when these prophecies or doctrine don't come true they blame the rank and file witnesses for getting ahead of jehovahs celestial chariot.

I always found it hilarious that the branch would often say not to speculate, but then they would turn around and speculate all over the place on matters. So glad I'm out of this racket of an organization.

OMG, I’m so glad I clicked on this video. I had a conversation with the lady who “ brought me into the truth” I have not heard from her in over 10 years. But something told me that I would hear from a JW I just didn’t know when. I digress back to my call yesterday. After getting the small talk out of the way she asked if I was still attending the meetings and I said oh no and I feel much better about it, my anxiety is calmer and I don’t feel weighed down anymore. I feel better and happier. Going to the meetings felt burdensome, and dreaded walking in the doors. She said oh you feel that way because you never formed a relationship with Jehovah🙄… you have to go to the KH because it’s about being obedient and the Bible tells us to not forsake the gathering of ourselves together…..I said I feel like I’ve always had a relationship with God and being at the meetings among “ friends” never felt like a loving place to be for me. The people at the KH weren’t loving.. I must’ve struck a nerve with her because she told me she’s been going to the KH over 45 years and never felt unloved… 😵‍💫 I said well, once I decided to stop going to the meetings I did do some research before “ recycling” the old magazines and bound volumes. I learned about how the JWs were formed and how the writers rewrote the Bible and calls it “new light” to fit their narrative. I took note that they changed the rules on blood transfusions. Because of “new light”you can have blood fractions. There was a time when JW’s honor people who refused blood transfusions;I remember the book that was issued with the stories of young children and their parents who refused blood transfusions. What are GB telling the parents who lost their children by refusing blood transfusion? How do you think they feel learning that beacause of “new light” they could have blood fractions? Did God change his mind? Why is there new light? She didn’t say anything for moment. Then she says I want to read you the scripture at Leviticus where it talks about not eating blood. She read the scripture and I said we aren’t talking about eating blood, we’re talking about receiving blood to survive. This went on and on for a few minutes. Then I said what about the false prophesies about Armageddon, starting in 1914,1918, 1925,1975 until now? many people lost their livelihood sold their homes, committed suicide because they thought Armageddon was approaching. Why does JWs preached about the end and it hasn’t happened yet, isn’t that false prophesying in Jehovahs name? She said well you can see we are getting close to the end with the Omicron, and diseases. I said here we go again talking about the end..yes diseases have been around for decades, and so has viruses. Do you remember the Spanish Flu? I can feel it in her tone that was was ready to hang up. She said well it was good talking to you what area did you say you lived in? I told her and she says well, you take care. I said it was good talking to you too. I’m sure won’t be hearing from her anymore.👏🏽

Very well put together and timely, especially given what is happening with Ukraine and Russia. How many times do we have to hear speculation regarding the "King of the North"? Also love how you use their own words and literature to make your case! No one can accuse you of using "apostate lies," can they? I can see that college training and those degrees paid off. At one point, many decades ago, Jesus was depicted in magazines as beardless, which looked very strange and unrealistic, no doubt to make Jesus fit the governing body's preferred view of Jesus - never mind the Jewish Scriptures\culture\history which makes it obvious that Jesus wore a beard - and also to fit the idea that a true servant of God is to be beardless, again, never mind the reality...

To clarify: when leading Witnesses make adjustments in their beliefs, it is due to any of the following: 1 speculation- as this video rightly concludes 2 misunderstanding or misapplication of what the scriptures intended 3 additional, more accurate facts coming to the surface at a later time that were previously not known which can change beliefs and actions

But the audience, the other people in the watchtowers organization, don't pay attention to the leaders speculation, if they payed attention to the speculations, they would know not to call it the truth, Truth is not speculations ,and speculation can't be called the truth, And then they take speculations and calls it new light, on a speculations,, Thank you, your video's always covering the actual facts, thanks, always great job,

You guys hit the nail doubly on the head. because The organization wants to be, the 1st to come out with the new light. But if any publisher comes up with the same thought process. Before they do they would definitely get discipline.

Me and my children are facing homelessness. I am a single mother with two beautiful children that suffer from autism. I feel all alone in my situation I have no family or friends to help me. I remember sitting at a convection and waiting for the main talk. Listening for "New Light".

They also speculate in order to receive the best possible answer to a subject that they really don't have an answer to. They are able to record all answers which were told over the microphone, but now zoom. Then later they can say that it is new light which will last a few years than later they have to get rid of it. The new light that they use proves that they are not inspired by God or guided by God's holy spirit. Proving themselves to be a counterfeit of Christianity.

I tried leaving before the grey bibles came out, I came back and was so lost because so much had changed. I was viewed as spiritually weak because I couldn’t keep up with the nonsense 😂 😂 😂.

As a jw all my life I always wondered about those scriptures that do seem to describe what many Christians call The Rapture-and why JWs didn’t have that as doctrine.

10:20 This is so true. One of the hallmarks of religious cults is the egotistical notion that the leadership has some special knowledge or insight that all other religions' leaders lack. The only way for Bible-based cult leaders like the JW Governing Body to convey that impression, is to teach novel, enigmatic doctrines that aren't overtly apparent from reading the Bible but have an intriguing hint of Biblical plausibility with just the right mental squinting and wishful thinking. If they would just teach only what the Bible overtly says and avoid speculation, then they become mundane Bible teachers who quickly become dispensable once the student learns the Bible. No cult leader is content with this. Their narcissistic egos need them to be revered as insightful, indispensable, divinely appointed sages on whom their followers must forever be dependent. Whence comes the repeated speculations to foster the illusion of them having constant divine direction and the need for followers to maintain allegiance so as to always benefit from the latest divine revelation or teaching.

Imagine how disastrous it would have turned out if Paul kept needing to return to eg Ephesus or Galatia or to the Corinthians saying "Errr... sorry guys.. the spiritual fruit I preached to you last week is wrong; this now is 'new light', disregard what I said about ABC XYZ so many times before". It would make the holy spirit - which Paul was deeply inspired by - seem like confusion and false, and at that rate 👉who would listen? Accuracy is something God takes seriously; and which is why Christ was very displeased with his disciples who were unable to cast out a certain demon by their own lack of faith, thereby casting an unfavorable light on God's work in the sight of the people, God whose glory meant EVERYTHING to Christ. What is it if not an act of going beyond Scripture when you make wearing a beard a punishable act - no matter how neat you keep it? It's no different to creating one's own label for what constitutes a sin. Wear a beard and a command would often come from the top that at conventions such people are not to be given ministerial servant duties of any kind 😏🤨 yet at no point does the Scriptures\God prescribe such a condemnation. But these would be quick to point out that Tattoos are forbidden by God - and we accept this - and show you the verse in Leviticus, yet the very, very next verse shows that God totally approves of Beards, commanding that His people ought not to shave\cut the extremities of their beards. However, the governing body - or JWs - condemns wearing a beard to the extent that they take action over it. Another example is the emblems, falsely claiming that it is only for a special select class, when again at no time do the Scriptures support such a thing. If anything it states the complete opposite, that ALL are to part-take, and any who do not partake have no place in Christ. I like many things about most denominations, seeing that there is no such thing as a perfect denomination, but I can't help noticing where the governing body sometimes go beyond the Scriptures.

I remember those in my old hall that could pick apart a talk at a district convention, all the points, and alleged "new light", and every other fill in the blank potentially kingdom shattering point. Can't say that I miss it. But, a good fisherman knows when to change the bait, and watchtower has always had a fresh can of worms that to keep the fishes fed.

JW's teach that The Lord Jesus Christ Crucified is actually The Angel Michael. I point out to them that the Bible (and their own Bible) states that "Only God can forgive sins!" and then ask them, 'How can an Angel forgive sins?" They point out a verse that Jesus states "All power is given unto me" whilst ignoring that Jesus forgave sins BEFORE 'all power was given unto him!" Finally, open the KJV (that they used for decades) at 1 Timothy 3:16 where it states 'GOD was manifest in the flesh' and ask their opinion on this. The way they try and wriggle out of this would make a snake turn red with embarrassment.

That is the truth about it all. It all becomes pure speculation. Which is why I say that those of us who speculate should be free to share with each other. I know I'm not the only one and I'm willing to bet that every congregation has many speculaters in it. It would be great to hear all of them.

Excellent observation. Another phrase the new GB loves to use is that something "reminds us of..." This allows them basically say anything they want. What something reminds someone of can change from person to person.

What if the old light of the Blood doctrine killed someone, can the new light bring him back. collateral damage

Wow! That's ironic to me that the number reason would be "New Light" because my dad was JW and work for a company called "Nu-Lite" Electrical Wholesalers in Harahan, Louisiana.

In a Watchtower magazine study article a few years ago, the governing body or the faithful and discreet slave said: they are not inspired and they can made mistakes in doctrine and organizational procedures. So, that means nothing is inspired of God coming from the faithful and discreet slave of Watchtower. Like you say it’s all speculation from a non inspired source.

The third question though is very pertinent lol, the problem is the JW belief of the two groups, the earthly hope and the heavenly hope. The Holy Spirit is in each person, it is in the temple of the body.

Psalm 33:11 says, “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations.” His Word is Timeless and His Promises are Everlasting! Matthew 24:35 says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” God's counsel never changes.

My favorite line of "reasoning" is a series of hypothetical statements followed by the word "Evidently..."

a recent WT study about Ruth and Naomi had a paragraph that taught how upset Ruth must have been when Naomi said she came back with nothing. (Ruth feelings were hurt because Ruth came back with Naomi )There were lots of comments on how badly this must have effected Ruth and I was thinking this is all speculation...I even Speculated that Ruth agreed with Naomi that she came back with nothing. What a waste of time!
