The Miles Morales Spiderman is really no different than the Ben Reilly or Miguel O'Hara Spidermen. Nobody cared before. It's just a way of identifying them from THE Spiderman, Peter Parker.

They sure were calling Miles Spider-Man in his introduction into the video games. The whole game was about conditioning people to "this is Spider-Man now". They tried to make him better than Peter in every aspect. His opener starts with him knocking out Rino with one punch, with a power he didn't even know he had, or had any way of realizing he could even do that. The people in Harlem referred to him as "our Spider-Man" 🙄 as if Peter too white to care about people living there. His friends prefer to call him Spider-Man and say he should realize he IS Spider-Man. Not to mention the BLM propaganda added to the game, floor to roof murals that read BLACK LIVES MATTER. His nemesis in the game is a teen or early 20's friend girl he grew up with that goes on to develop insanely op technology which made Octavius look like an amateur. I absolutely hated it, and the developers came out and said Miles is the future for this series. Guess I'm out.

If Miles is such a great character, then he deserves his own mantle and doesn't need to use someone else's.

Saying "Miles Morales is Miles Morales" is just a statement of fact. Lawsuits, who's doing who's bidding, none of it matters. In the eyes of Marvel, the public... everyone knows, Miles Morales is Miles Morales. In the same way, we all know, a man is not a woman... Miles Morales is not Spiderman.

The truth is: What really matters is not the "entity" Spider-man. Its all about Peter Parker, the everyday insecure nobody, plagued with family tragedy, who we findout has a heart of gold. Even when he is at his darkest moments. Miles Morales? Sadly, just the quota guy. He would be better as the Spidey's sidekick, with his very own title, like Robin.

Funny how much they were trying to denigrate Spider-Man for the past several years, almost as if to childishly say "fine, if we can't play with your toy, then he's a stupid loser anyway, I got my OWN toy and he's betterer than yours!"

This is why I think in the next Marvel reboot they should just give him his own name. Call him "Recluse" as a nod the Black and Brown Recluse spiders and give him a more interesting backstory instead of, "he's Spiderman but if uncle Ben was Spiderman and then became more Spiderman."

We didn't need a Miles Morales, there was already a half hispanic Spiderman, his name is Miguel O' Hara. And as far as I can remember, he was well received.

Peter Parker is Spider-Man. You could also make an argument for Ben Reilly, since he is a literal clone of Peter Parker. Miles Morales, however, is Miles Morales.

Funny though...when anyone says "Black Spider Man" everyone just automatically thinks they mean "Peter Parker Venom Suit" not Miles Moralis...wich is weird and not weird because Miles is also Black Spider Man

The thing is Marvel and the Miles stans have been trying to replace Peter with Miles and saying he is Spiderman. Marvel maybe not saying officially but they want that to be the thing. And the stans are shouting it from the roof tops. The point of the Miles Morales is Miles Morales is a statement that no matter how hard they try they can never replace the real Spiderman. And it drives the stans absolutely crazy.

After all these years, Marvel still refuses to give Miles his own superhero name. No one will ever call him Spider-Man. And he will forever live in Peter's shadow as long as he remains just a spinoff. IMO, the only time giving a new character an existing character's name was when DC introduced all those new characters during the Silver Age. Flash and Green Lantern being the most notable. But that was after Jay Garrick and Alan Scott had been mothballed for years and would only make sporadic appearances afterwards (until DC finally gave the JSA their own book in the late 90s) They didn't make a new Superman while Clark Kent was still their flagship hero.

The go-ahead and marketing around Miles might be for the copyright reasons, but I remember seeing an interview from the 'creator' of Miles shortly after he was first published, and the schmuck was proud of killing off Peter in the ultimate universe and replacing Peter with a little brown boy because he (the creator) had 2 little mixed kids and he wanted them to have 'representation' in the comics.

Ethan isn't fighting against the institution of "bread and circus"; only against the lack of effectiveness in late versions of it, thus is a tool of the foe.

In ultimate time-line it seems ok, because Peter died. But, Marvel is so fucking insane that they being a guy from another universe to their MAIN universe with his same name. Miles Immorality is nothing to me. Stan Lee once repeated to me and others at a SDCon one of his famous sayings about "the Spider-man outfit allows EVERY nationality of kid to imagine that HE could be Spidey." Miles Morales is Miles Morales and judging from his comics, his merchandise and even his own movies, Marvel is well aware of it themselves anyway. At least call him something like "Red Arachnid" and be done with it. It'd be miles better than _"Spin"._ Come to think of it, do you ever think when the citizens of Marvel-New York see Miles swinging around solo in his Spiderman gear, they just think "Oh, there's Spider Man wearing that black suit again."
