Banning bathroom breaks isn't even something teachers should be able to do (in my country, they in fact cannot). When ya gotta go, ya gotta go, that's it. EDIT: I've read up on it a bit, it's actually considered a violation of article 3 of the European Human Rights Commission, making it a form of torture. A teacher that wilfully and intentionally prevents a student from going to the bathroom when needed can get in deep shit, apparently. Charges of assault, misconduct and a few others, besides that human rights violation itself ...

Never assume just because you speak a different language than the usual where you are that no one there will understand what you’re saying.

I'm not the teacher in this but I had heard about it in my first year teaching. A teacher was sick of giving kids bathroom breaks, and the seniors hated her. So one kid drank a ton of water and actually WET himself in class. It went down in academic lore and is still told. I've been teaching for 15 years.

As an airport worker I can confirm that people leave their bags pretty often unattended. We get numerous announcements a day that urge owners to pick up their bags.

I've had teachers over the years try to restrict bathroom breaks. After a conversation with my mom about it, I would just get up and go. Never had a problem after that. She had told me to ignore them and do it anyway.

The first story reminds me of a story my drama teacher told us He used to have a girlfriend who lived in Germany and spoke mostly German, which he soon picked up and with time was almost fluent in it. So one day, he was biking through Germany when visiting his gf and was hit by a car and flung into a ditch. He had split his head open, but when he woke up he didn't remember anything, his head was no longer bleeding and he didn't feel much pain, and he had no inclination that anything was wrong, other than the fact he had just woken up in a ditch, so he just went on back to where his girlfriend lived. As soon as he got there, he greeted her as if nothing in the world was wrong and started playing PlayStation, all while is girlfriend just started at him, in utter shock. Eventually after the initial shock that her boyfriend had come home with a gaping wound in his head, she dragged him to the hospital. When they checked in, and went through vitals and that sorta stuff, they spoke in English. After they had gone through a couple tests a nurse came into them and said, that everything was fine, but they would need to keep him over night due to precaution. But then... She turned to another doctor, still within earshot of my drama teacher, and said, in German "He could have a brain bleed, he will probably die in the night." My drama teacher's jaw just dropped as well as his girlfriend's, and he said, in perfect German to the doctor, "Lady I speak German!!" Thankfully he is still alive and well, and a very good friend of mine.

I crop dusted an employee Xmas party because the “bonus” was a limited gift certificate to Land’s End instead of the cash they had given in previous years. I had been holding in my bubble guts to release on my drive home with the windows down. However, I decided to mingle around the big wigs as me and my favorite coworkers were leaving and release silent but deadly bombs in our wake. I told them what I did when we got outside. That was five or six years ago and we giggle about it to this day.

I had a very similar moment when I was 12. I moved from Poland to Scotland at the age of 10. By the time I went to visit people in my old school, I was perfectly fluent in English. Kids who picked on me in the past did so when I visited. So. I turned to their English teacher and had a great conversation about weather, news and how I've been since I've moved. That floored them so much as I was always that kid in primary school who didn't do too well in most subjects. The kids then wanted as much of my attention as possible as I also spoke with a heavy Fife (area of Scotland I lived in) accent. Additionally, by the time I was 16 I left school with really decent grades. I went onto to college to do art courses and I am now at university studying psychology. And, to my knowledge, I am one of the very few people from my class before I left went onto university. It's funny how things change in a course of a lifetime.

You can actually park (for a limited amount of time) on double yellows with a disabled badge in England and Wales (not sure about Scotland). Not many people know it though. But it was still very rude. Edit: now have seen that they checked the law on parking with a disabled badge

3:31 To be fair, Portuguese is the fifth or sixth most spoken language in the world and if I was in the USA and I wanted to speak in a language no one understood, I would still pick portuguese. It's not that the language has millions of native speakers, what you should consider is if the language you are using for no one to understand you is tought or not in that country's schools, i.e, Portuguese. So yeah, choosing spanish in a country that practically teaches spanish as a second language is not very wise.

Had a bit of a petty revenge a few years back. Tried to call in sick at work and my supervisor begged me to come in. I did cuz I have a hard time saying no. But boi was it hilarious seeing my coworkers get sick one after the other after they caught what I had.

Real story... I speak spanish and once on a trip to Canada a beautiful girl was helping a friend set up an account in a local bank, I said, (without being vulgar) how i thought she was beautiful, she answered in perfect spanish, thank you very much for the compliment... I became really red and said sorry... She just laughed and said it was ok... Don't think no one can speak your language or this may happen

I've had the language story happen to me. Where I live, it's not common for someone to speak fluent French. Most people are able to understand bits and pieces and can order bread at the bakery. I'm one of those few people who speak French almost fluently. I was a team leader at my job. And the coworkers I'm still in contact with told me they thought me strict but fair. I wouldn't reprimand people for being 15 minutes late, but I would engage in a short conversation if your actions were actively causing production harm. The story: I was sitting in the cafeteria of my job, eating lunch and reading on my phone. Two of my newest coworkers are sitting about 15 feet away from me and start talking in French (their native language). They're basically gossiping about me right in earshot, thinking I can't understand what they're saying. When I'm done eating, I pass their table to throw my empty bottle in the thrash. While passing them, I say in fluent French: "Next time you want to gosip about someone, do it in a language they don't understand." That was the first time I saw someone's mouth make a perfect o-shape

If you leave your bagage unattended you have to trust 100+ people not to touch it, while if you leave it with a stranger you only have to trust one person. The risk of someone among those 100+ people stealing your shit is much higher than that 1 person doing it.

Honestly, I've had plenty of teachers that either don't allow bathroom breaks or have limited ones. But my art teacher is actually worse. I love her, but the only thing I have against her is that she REDUCES the student's daily grade by 50% (we get daily points for behavior) if they go to the bathroom during her class. I get the argument that it's to prevent kids from just leaving class for the whole hour, but punishing everyone isn't helping. I've almost pissed myself in her class in fear of having my grades be affected.
