Thanks for this video! But - what if the printer doesn´t print the alignment page after changing the cartridge? I did everything as explained, but it doesn´t print the alignment page. And without this step it doesn´t print my letter......

Please see: Printer Specifications for HP Deskjet 2540, 2545 Printers - ( ow.ly/D7Fq303JMZ9 ). In the section on Ink Cartridges it shows a table for the various printers listing the type of cartridge depending on where the printer was purchased. I hope this helps.

repeaterII Does your printer indicate that an ink cartridge is low on your computer? Is your printer plugged in directly into a wall outlet? Is your printer able to make a photocopy from the scanner glass? Are you able to print from a different computer?

Thanks for nice video , i am using hp2545 printer and bought hp black 678 genuine cartridge but after printing 2-3 pages printer was not able to recognize the black cartridge , i got the new cartridge from service center as replacement but its the same issue printer black cartridge error light is blinking and printer is showing black ink cartridge empty however its printing if i use only color cartridge , can you please help what could be the issue ?

+HP Printer Support I have used this document from one of your comment in this video , I have Hp2545 and black cartridge is 678, i have used genuine cartridge only but still getting error and black cartridge light is blinking.This is 1.5 year old printer and I have not taken more than 100 print and black cartridge gone.. my color cartridge also 80% empty , do i need to change colour cartridge also ? to fix this

+Mukesh K You should not have to replace the colour cartridge at the same time unless it is also empty. It is possible there may be an issue with the replacement cartridge. You should call in to phone support, and verify the cartridge and the printer itself. ( ow.ly/YZvQR )

I did all the procedures but when I check the ink status the colored category had a blank color and only have an black and yellow exclamation point above in the right corner. What's this?

+Charmaine Farinas That is your printer's way of notifying you that you are low on the ink with the exclamation mark. But if you installed new cartridges, the notification should have disappeared unless you've refilled the cartridges. If you have accidentally touched the ink nozzle, please follow the steps in the 'Track marks, think lines trail off of printed characters' section. It will walk you through how to clean the nozzle if you have touched it.

+Zaid Hameed Please try a power reset of the printer by following the steps below. - While the printer is turned on, please unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet. - Please wait a full 60 seconds. - Please plug the power cord back into the printer and into a wall outlet. It is important that it is not a power bar/power strip/surge protector. - If the printer does not automatically turn itself on, please power on the printer. What do your ink levels say now?

Why is there no guide to changing cartridges in the DJ 2540 in the software that ships with this printer ? It's the thing users do most often - but I had to come here for it. There's a rudimentary guide if you search the software Help files - but it's incomplete and you're forced to come here. If HP aren't going to print a cartridge replacement guide somewhere on the printer, the least they should do is include it somewhere in the software ... and I don't mean buried somewhere in the Help files. This isn't something I should have to search online for - and HP need to look at the user experience they're shipping with their products ... you know - like testing it with someone who hasn't used the product before, because they clearly have no common sense grasp of what's required. Typical of large corporations over-populated with suits obsessed with process and procedure - rather than product. HP needs to appoint an individual with common sense - accountable for the shipping of each product.

i bought mine a while ago, have printed maybe 5 text pages and now it says the ink is empty (the color to!?). guess i have to go and buy new ones so i can print five more papers, not impressed. just a question, have the evolution of the printer industry completely stopped?. all printers, all brands have been looking the same and been working equally bad for the last 20 years, they have been constructed in the same crapy plastic that just screams bad build quality and there is always a bloody battle getting a printed paper out of the machine. the system with the ridiculously costly cartridge system is of corse only a way to get more money from their customers, and thats fine to some extent, if i only could see some little step of improvement, something that could explain the 50 bucks for three drops of colour. i mean, thats like 1 buck for color and 49 that should go to the people putting the drop there and the rest for evolving new systems that actually works better. come on,please just stop making crap.

Are you trying to say that the ink carriage is stalling and not moving freely or are you indicating that you have blank spots in your printed jobs? There is a document titled "Blinking Lights on the HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 All-in-One Printer Series". It explains what each combination of blinking lights means. In each section it also explains the steps that should correct the issue. To find the document please search for C03817715 on HP's home page or using Google search.
