Hello! Welcome to Rice Bowl Tales. I am Jane, recipe writer, photographer, and the author of three published cookery books.
My husband and I both love seeing the beauty of natural scenery in all four seasons’ changes; and we enjoy cooking plant-based food with great passions.

Ever since I became a vegan, I have tried to recreate or veganise lots of foods that we used to enjoy so much and which hold such endearing memories. My children often ask me to send them the recipes, customers from our shop have made requests also.

These are the main reasons behind why we set up our RU-vid channel.
Here we would like to share with you our journeys of the beautiful places we visited; the healthy, delicious plant-based dishes that we cooked, all the meals will be suitable for vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers from all over the world.
Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel.
We look forward to hearing your feedback.

Oh wow! How amazing 🤩 Dan Dan noodles are indeed very well loved and the way to cook it based on the original recipe can be really flexible, which is why it's so popular 😋

On the streets of Hongkong, they sell Chung fan that has a long cylinder shape and they cut it shorter when they serve it. They put a mixture of sauce and sprinkle it with sesame seeds on top. It taste so good but I couldn’t find any recipes here on RU-vid, they only have this dim-sum cheung fan.
@railbuggy Yes, they are called Chee Cheung Fun ( literally translated it means 'pig’s intestine-shaped rolls’). We have such fond memories of eating them whilst growing up too. I'll try and share the recipe in the future, so please stay tuned 😋👍
It’s hard to lose our dogs, they are my bff. I’m not a dog owner, I am a dog parent. No matter how hard it is to lose my dog, I do it all over again. I wish you do the same Jane.
@ashtweth That's amazing! So incredible 👏👍 Did you use this recipe of mine - the Cheung Fun - and turned it into a noodle dish? Or you used a different one?
@@ricebowltales Hi Guys, I used this recipe! :) I used brown rice for flour and chicken /[prl Broth, it worked like a charm, much healthier with the brown rice flour! :).
@patriciaooi3674 Thank you so much for raising this question. The link to the full recipe and a full ingredient list is in the description box above. I do apologise for not have been making it clear in the video, as that is one of the most important ingredients 👍 And here it is 💛 Ingredients: ** For the batter : (Makes 9-10 rolls) 150g rice flour 20g wheat starch 2 tbsp vegetable oil ½ tsp salt 600ml water
@@viviannguyen1111 You're most welcome! I'm so excited for you to make this! I bought my stainless steel trays from amazon, the steamer and tongs from Chinese grocery store. Hope you'll manage to find them all 🥰🤞
Quick question. Do you think I could sub Maple syrup for the Golden Syrup? Growing up I was never a fan of Golden Syrup. Plus it is difficult to find in my small town, and half the time Amazon won't deliver to my state. (Call it the price of living in paradise Hawai'i.)
@bigislandcat3600 Yes you can. But I personally prefer adding golden syrup into the Char Siu marinade because it's thicker and sweeter than maple syrup or agave, and due to its high viscosity, it holds the marinade better during and after cooking, so it offers a better taste and texture as a result. Hope this helps. Hope you have lots of fun making it 😋🙌
I used my homemade kao fu to substitute the chicken in this recipe, the texture is amazing and it's so delicious. Wow wow. Thank you so much. I’m going out today and buy the sheets. I didn’t know they came frozen fresh, and I have really wanted to learn to cook bean curd..at least one thing. That looks delicious. Thanks for your translation. Sheh sheh(?)
@agold2125 That's amazing! I hope you have managed to get the beancurd sheet. These two dishes are so easy to make and absolutely delicious. Please let me know how you get on 🥰 You're very welcome! Hahah Sheh sheh 謝謝! Thank you very much too 💛
