I (27, M) was diagnosed with BDD two weeks ago. I suffer in silence every day. Medicated and doing therapy. It’s exhausting. Today is not a good day. Despite my efforts, I once again had to endure a traumatic experience early this morning. Any progress that has been made is currently shattered. Body dysmorphia has infiltrated every part of my life. And what happened this morning has confirmed everything I feel about myself is true. It’s terrifying. Just know that you are not alone in this. I’m fighting right beside you.
"Any progress that has been made is currently shattered." CURRENTLY is an important word there. You must embrace these bumps in the road. Setbacks are evidence of progress. It is scary and overwhelming but it is your life on the line and you are taking it back piece by piece. You will learn to deal with these things. Things that controlled you will become so small you laugh at them.
First I wanna say your smile is so pretty. It's valid for you to complain about not wanting that kind of attention, so good job not letting those creeps take advantage of you. I hope you meet the people meant for you soon. Everyone deserves to have people that support them.

The thing with people with low self-esteem is that they "fall in love" easily, at least in my experience. Some cunning individuals might take their time to subtly butter you up (idk if this makes sense, I can't think of other ways to say it), they might trick you into thinking that they truly care to gain your trust and wait for your attachment to grow before slowly revealing their true colors. I am the type who would fall for this and I did, I struggled for two years as a result. Thinking about what happened then still triggers something in me, thankfully not as strong as it used to. I have little to no support system, I don't even trust my parents enough to tell them my struggles and It makes me feel like an ungrateful child. They've done nothing deliberately wrong, if anything they've been respecting my space and let me sort out my thoughts at my own pace. Sometimes I can't help but think whether or not they've been too faithful towards me, but on the other hand I think they're doing the right thing. I am an adult now, I should be able to overcome my own problems without having to rely on them. I'm having a problem deciding which one is right. Am I in the wrong for wanting them to start becoming more proactive in trying to help me? Or have they been neglecting me? I feel like I'm still pretty a much a child and not a 22 year old that I am. I don't even celebrate my birthdays anymore, I dread them to be completely honest. I respect your fortitude, and I'm glad you're not falling into their trap which could've made you feel even worse in the long run. Despite having been in a difficult situation and in a cloudy state of mind you're still able to make rational judgement and not letting these people take advantage of you, that's admirable and is an attractive trait in my book. So don't sell yourself short, you do have some good qualities. The genuine people will come, though I do understand how difficult it is to know whether someone is being genuine or not as I have difficulties accepting compliments or accepting the fact that some people may see me in a positive light. I guess we also have to learn to control this habit of assuming the worst and fix our distorted perception of ourselves even though it's easier said than done, especially if you don't have a support system. I'm sorry this became a rant midway through, I couldn't help myself. I just needed to get it out of my system. I wish you all the best.

I love the part where You say it's not the people's looks that are the problem, rather it's the strange attitude and behaviors! Well said! I'd expect a little more empathy from someone who has sufferd mentally as you have. Have you ever considered that while you get showered with compliments and attention everyday just for existing, these people may have never heard a positive word about themselves their entire lives? If you droped the attitude and the high standards, maybe you'd be more grateful for being noticed and approached.
She's not creepy though. There's a difference between actually being creepy, and having personal issues. She's just having personal issues, and dealing with them pretty well. And, and, if You watch her earlier videos, she's said before that she didn't have the best childhood in the world, which can be the cause of her body dysmorphia, as well as her social issues. It takes time to get over these things, and sometimes "complaining about it," or in my eyes self reflecting--- helps one figure things out. :)

You are in fact noticing a very saddening truth amongst our age group. That truth being people in our age group don't know how to express themselves or emotionally connect to people. I've just seen a few of your videos which have been interesting. The voice you hear when you're thinking about things, the one that sounds like you, it's often a mix of you and everyone who has said negative things to you in the past so you can come to believe those negative things to be true, even when they aren't. Focus less time thinking about what others think of you or how they might judge you. Sometimes people will say nasty things to others because they in fact have a low self esteem and value and can be jealous of you looking good. There are also of course, nasty, selfish people in the world too which suggests they are that way because they have their own issues they aren't dealing with. Yes, there can be those who want to take advantage for one reason or another but their are also those who will like you for you because they have spent time with you, getting to know and understand you as well as perhaps gaining a real connection to you. Remember, you are in control of who you say yes or know to. Of course, if you say no, do so in a respectful way at first but if they keep pushing then speak firmly and sat ' No, I'm not interested! ' Guys have to know that if a female says no, then accept that and leave it be. The words you say to yourself when you speak to yourself or about yourself are important. If you keep using negative words, all you are doing is reaffirming the negative things other might have said. If However you choose to say good, positive things to yourself, it will, over time, override those negative thoughts. It's tricky at first but it can be done so help you. Something else you might want to do is imagine, what would you say to a close friend if they were saying these things to themselves then speak to yourself as if you are your own best friend helping. You're still young, I'm guessing, and I'm sure have had a tricky life so it's understandable and know you can change it. Be the master of yourself. I get you find compliments difficult but if you simply sat something like, that you, that's kind of you, your accepting it and being respectful and polite in return. It doesn't mean you're making massive changes but changes are happening. Most importantly, be good to you because you may not realise it but you're worth it. Live the life you want to live in the way you want to live it, just as everyone does. Others may get people who say horrid things also but some choose to not care about those people. After all, nasty people aren't what you want around you in life so those people don't matter. Be what you want to attract because like attracts like. Yes, it can attract some fools too but again, not important people in your life, they are simply passing through it. Most importantly, be good to you, always.

I recently discovered that vitamin E oil works miracles for discoloration on the face (I get a lot of red in my face sometimes). I was using rose stuff before which is still nice but not nearly as effective. I'd bet it's good for dark circles too. The vitamin E oil I used was 70,000 IU so it is pretty concentrated

I'm around your age and also give off that "easy to manipulate" vibe, obviously insecure and lonely whenever I go out, I rarely do but I mostly get approached by guys 10+ years older than me. I also think a lot of lonely guys see me as being on the outside and are attracted to that, then get irritated and rude when I turn out to not be their fix all dream girl. They likely are men with a codependent personality disorder. I’m a 25 year old man about to turn 26, and I’m in college to get my master’s, and I work on campus. While on campus, I see how lots of women just want to have fun and flirt, but sometimes young men are too insecure to accept that’s what young women deserve to have before settling down. Even if the women don’t want to hookup, I find they struggle to find men who want to actually support their expected and actual goals. Make some guy friends who want to support your goals, even as just friends, just to be safe from the creeps is my proven good advice for young women.

You kind of touched on it at the end, but you probably give off "don't bother me" vibes. Good guys will take that at face value, respect that boundary, and do what they think you want, which is to not bother you. Abusers and creeps don't care about your boundaries, so they will bother you even if they think you want to be left alone. I don't know how to stop the creeps, but if you want to make connections with good men, you need to meet them in a social setting where they feel like they have permission to talk to you. This is why a lot of couples meet through friends of friends, or at work or school - those are environments where social interaction is encouraged without pressure for it to be sexual, and where people can form connections without violating anyone's boundaries.

I've learned over the years that we put out a certain energy and people around us pick up on that energy. If you act confident and self assured, people will treat you with more respect and consideration, but it has to be genuine and not fake or forced. At least that's what I've encountered.
Men generally mature at a later age than women. The guys who are showing interest are probably just immature because they haven't grown up yet, and you have no obligation to give them your attention. You have so much life ahead of you, and you will eventually meet someone where the interest is mutual.

Hey girl been watching your videos for a few years now. I used to get bullied in school for the way I looked and how I dressed. I always dressed like a tomboy sweatpants and a hoodie. My hair was puffy and big and everyone would say I was ugly and looked like a man. Guys only wanted to hook up with me. I only attracted those people. I learned that having no friends and being alone has been the best company. every person in the world has their own definition of what beauty should look like. Everyone has their own type. the only person that matters is yourself and what you think. I learned that I don’t wanna look like everyone else. I wanna be me. I wanna wear clothes that I like and feel comfortable even if it doesn’t attract people. Because at the end of the day people care about themselves and worry about their own lives and thoughts and feelings. I started getting to know myself and what I like to do. All the attention I craved from other people I gave it to myself. The right person for you will come when you love yourself so much that you don’t need anybody. I’m a shy quiet girl and I actually take it as a positive that I’m reserved and I observe my surroundings. We are all just souls living a human experience. You're not ugly but you are picky and paranoid. If you keep this mindset you'll be single into your 30s. And guys have to talk to multiple women to find a girlfriend. Nothing about that is being creepy. It takes a lot of courage to walk up to a stranger especially if you're attracted to them. You should give people a chance and go out with them and ask all the questions you want in person.

i would be very interested in you defining what 'creepy' is to you. because i do understand a lot of men can exhibit creepy behaviour when courting or showing interest (i've definitely done it in the past). A lot of the time that behaviour is stemming from insecurity in themselves the same way. for a long time i had a blind spot to my 'creepy' behaviour but at this point i think i'm pretty much aware of how some things are going to be perceived by women. i find it much easier to talk to them now. i'm still a bit of a deviant in ways by nature (personally i think most men have a bit of that in them) but i know how to filter it better when interacting with women now. i'm only being this transparent about it because i'm online and it's the topic at hand so it seems appropriate. when I say creepy i'm talking about eye contact and not trying to hide my attraction for a girl for the most part. It could just get into objectifying territory at times which i now look back at as pretty stupid. I still don't really hide it but i've figured out how to do it in a way that is more graceful and charming (to some) lol. but anyway, what is creepy to you? because a lot of people talk about 'creepy' behaviour but it seems it's rarely defined, which is a big part of why men then just say 'oh it just means you find them unattractive'. that kind of just feeds into their insecurity more which in some way keeps the same loop going with them objectifying women and stuff because of insecurity.
Objectifying women is creepy, asking for a hookup is creepy, getting seggsual immediately is creepy, only hitting on women 10-20 years your junior is creepy, chronic desperation is creepy. Honestly I give people a lot of leeway, but people just take that and be creepier.

It looks like you are happier lately. I guess working does you good. There's not much you can do about creeps. I think a lot of that behaviour is a sign of the times, young men don't know how to talk to women. Of course creeps shouldn't be creeps, but there's things you can do to make them see you as less of an "easy" target. Wear modest, classy, expensive clothes, put effort into make-up, etc. High effort will show you have high standards, so the creeps won't go for you, but men with high standards will.

Keep listening to your intuition. If you feel an uncomfortable vibe from a guy, trust it. Dont let yourself be overly cautious to the point of paranoia though, or youll never let anyone in. You remind me of myself in ways. I'm 51yo and have been single every since my sons mom left me after 5yrs. I cant seem to make a genuine connection with people. Like im always in defense mode. I dont show emotion and well I guess that makes me odd. I dont like to go out alot and thats always been an issue. Learn to love yourself just as you are. Once thats accomplished then you are ready to perhaps find a partner. Its definitely easier with a partner if you can find a good one especially when we get older. It can get lonely. Good guys do still exist. However they may want a family not just a girlfriend. You will of course need to at least attempt to get to know people and I know that is getting tougher nowadays. 🙏
