I've been meditating for 52 years and this is potentially the most helpful session I have ever experienced.

While practicing this sweet nidra again today, I noticed that it was more helpful for me to simply rest in the “feeling” of my inner refuge. My mind has been so busy the last few days and it seemed like when I would try to focus on the visuals/words regarding my inner resource my mind would get distracted. I think this is one I will work with more in the future, even after module 4. Such an important practice 💗💗

A new inner resource has emerged for me in the last few days - my grandmother’s garden. She died last year and left that home over a decade ago so it’s only now in my imagination but it was a beautiful sanctuary in a busy world. It was her life’s work to create it.

And again, I find yet another inner resource from memory...kayaking down the Rideau River with my beautiful dog Oreo (passed four years ago). So serene, yet vibrant peace and sense of completeness. Thank you! Gillian Module 4.

wow Ally, this was amazing!! i’m really starting to see the effects of truly understanding yoga nidra as i go through the training and then practicing. i felt like this was the first time i truly understood what it meant to be aware while in the nidra state. in my inner refuge, i was lying in my macrame hammock on an island beach. to my left was the ocean, gentle waves crashing with dolphins hopping along. to my right was a tropical forest with the most gorgeous and amazing smelling flowers. because my hammock was between two palm trees, i was both shaded and kissed by the overhead sun peering between the leaves, providing a sense of warmth amongst the gentle ocean breeze. below me was a big mandala silk rug laying on the white sandy beach, my two dogs basking in the warmth just beneath me. i could reach down and pet them at any time. they were unbothered by the turtles passing by and the birds chirping above. in the distance locals enjoyed the beach just outside their homes. i could hear the laughter of happy people, feeling both connected to the love of other humans yet alone and at peace in my small secluded section of the beach. my inner resource here is peaceful loving contentment. thank you so so much for this ❤🙏🏽

Namaste Ally, it’s my second Yoga Nidra session today. This morning I was practicing Yoga Nidra for the heart and ended up in a very blissful place of Yoga (everything and everyone connected) cuz my Sankalpa was “abiding in the Truth and awareness of the Truth “. This practice of inner refuge, however , brought some images of quality time with a partner at “our home” somewhere in Asia. That might be a heartfelt longing cuz I’m single and I live in a city without any of the things that were part of the asraya like wildlife around our home or the sea. It felt great to immerse myself in the images and the afterglow of the sensations it created. But when I opened my eyes I felt bitter and ready to cry. That’s a whole new experience with Nidra.

This morning I chose to practice this as soon as I rolled out of bed. Curious about what my journey might look like through what Laura beautifully explained as an 'alert calm' state. And what a beautiful journey it was. I relaxed heavily during the SO HUM breathing and really became one with the earth. Ironically, my inner resource took me to the very summit of the Haleakala volcano in Hawaii - a place I had visited a number of years ago. Here I witnessed the sunrise around 5am, with a community of people watching the earth being born again, chanting and singing to it's arrival, and feeling an overwhelming sense of love, community, gratitude, and of being humbled. A beautiful reminder of this time and this place. Thank you for bringing me back here Ally. Much love & namaste.

A beautiful exploration Ally. I listened twice today. What a journey, I was taken back to our family mud thatch cottage, on the coast in Ireland. So safe, free, fun, earthy and being myself and so much love. The overwhelming feeling sense was that of love and I will go into my inner refuge and into my day reminding myself that I am loved. Thank you so much. Shelagh

Hi Ally. This practice brought me to this little cottage resided in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but golden meadows. It’s the sunset hours and the sky is being painted with this beautiful color of purplish pink and light orange, and the clouds are light and fluffy as cotton candy, sweet and airy. I was sitting on the steps of the porch and alongside with me was my dog Cookie, who passed away a couple of years ago. He’s always been such a loving and gentle soul, and always filled my heart with warmth. Everything was so calm and serene, with the birds singing in the background and the occasional chanting of Aum I heard coming from my left. Then I started tearing up, with such a burst of emotion I unleashed my feelings of sadness and grief, I really miss my Cookie. I continued crying throughout the rest of the practice and all the way till now as I’m typing this. This was such a powerful practice and I’ll definitely come back another time to work with it. Namaste. Angela, module three.

Hi Ally, I found myself in my garden. The cool air of the morning with the hint of warming summer sun looming in the background. The damp grass and the clean smell of the earth. Bees arriving to sip the pollen from the flowers. The different colors of the plants and the joy felt over the season as new buds open. The swishy sound of the grasses that blow in a gentle breeze. Birds in the trees of the yard and even the sound of cars or work in the distance as the new day begins...sometimes the quiet of the early evening depending on when I am there. Here is where I sense peace and calm and balance and joy and the blessing of the day. Thank you for guiding me here. Module 4 begins with this beautiful journey.

My third time doing this one as I work on clarifying my inner resource. Still drifting in and out of sleep. I love your imagery Ally. I feel so warm and weightless in your waters of the jungle. In my inner refuge I am high in nature, by a waterfall, rocky crags, grass and moss. Crystal clear streams. I am with a Lion. We have been on a journey. We feel safe, supported, accomplished, we look out toward the sun, it is low in the sky but not quite setting. There is birdsong and a warm gentle breeze. I feel free. We take rest in the long grass and wild flowers, the smell is sweet and familiar. I am resting. I am safe. I am home. 🙏

My Inner Resource was a small little mushroom cottage deep within the forest with a large hearth and dried herbs and a bubbling pot of cooking stew. a large bathtub, lots of hanging plants, a cozy space in front of the fire to sprawl out and nap, a cup of hot tea or cocoa, a small kitchen with wooden counters and a large rounded picture window looking out to a stream outside amongst tall trees and deep earthly smells and delicate moss everywhere. The cottage also had a river rock shower with a large shower head and steam, a little bench seat and hanging eucalyptus. The bedroom has another small fireplace and a patio door leading out to a small deck or patio area with fireflies, moths, Luna moths, bats, birds and owls hooting. In the distance beautiful large deer feeding and playing with squirrels and chipmunks. It's dark and the fire is glowing off of the little wooden cottage walls. There are large shelves and stacks of books with worn pages and beautiful old hand drawn pictures, they smell like an old attic. It's cozy, warm, protective, encapsulating, womb like, tender, sweet, magical, mystical, curious and imaginative, exciting and joyous, heart warming and soothing, safe and serene.

Namaste! I practiced around 10:50 P.M. on October 21, 2023. I loved your inner resource experience, and I modified my own based on your queues. I recalled my trip to the mountains and canyons of Utah and Colorado, and I was there with the highest version of someone I love and care about deeply. I was combining different feeling tones of joy, gratitude, connection, peace, safety, belonging, and so forth. It was awesome, but I wish I could have stayed with the visuals for longer, lol. The feeling tones were present in the center of my chest, my face, and lower abdomen. They extended to my shoulders. They felt like expansive currents of warm energy superseding each other like bubbles in a lava lamp. It felt really nice, but noticing them individually placed others in the background. Gratitude and joy felt different (exhilarating and making me want to laugh and smile) from peace and ease (calming and soothing). Trust was softer, and connection and belonging alternated between feeling more solid and fluid. That being said, I got freaked out when I heard you whisper out of nowhere SoHum. I was following along, yet I didn't expect the sudden drop in volume. Ditto with the Costa Rican sanctuary. 😅🤣

So much gratitude for you Ally!! I truly needed this. A Beautiful and Powerful Practice. What came up for me was a sense of death- it may sound strange…but it diffuses fear of nothingness of emptiness which is a true liberation. I felt a profound sense of surrender, peace, completness and trust, of what I imagine we prepare for in our earth existence. I was sunset horseback riding on the beach in Cabo with my daughter China, she transitioned November 2021 -when horses run on the beach it is truly like floating and soaring and feels effortless and weightless, the sounds and fragrances of the oceans, blanketed in warm moist winds and warm deep colors of sunset covering us was a Heaven. #module5

Vast open moorland, vast open sky, wild and wind swept. So that is my inner sanctuary. Namaste Ally, Thank you for sharing your inner refuge space. I felt the warmth & lushness of the Costa Rican jungle you described so lovingly and creating a container of space for us to come into our own inner resource. I found myself on the island I spent my childhood summers on. The beautiful granite rock, the soft moss underfoot, little crevices in the rocks full of brown pine needles and the sun kissed waters of Picard lake. As a young girl I would visit my thinking place, nestled into the warm rocks, with a canopy of pine & cedar overhead creating a gentle cascade of sunlight all around. The smell of cedar and pine - Moss, lichen and wildflowers still permeate my nose as I come back to that place.

5/18 Loved this! I did this Nidra in the middle of the night to get myself settled back to sleep~ I was able to remain awake for the practice and it helped to regulate my mind activity that was the creating stress that woke me up. My immediate "scene" for my inner sanctuary/refuge came through as my experience of White Sands National Park at sunset. The sand is crystallized gypsum and is cool to the touch, and the sky lights up the most magical of ways. My senses came alive with all the beauty of this expansive vortex land and I had the felt sense of being there, the same as it was when I was there a couple of months ago. I'll most definitely be returning to this one! Thank you 🙏🌹🙏

Profound. The place that appeared for me was the sitting under the stars on the dock at the cottage I went to as a child, feeling peace, wonder and awe, as well as security knowing my parents were in the cottage on the shore, its lights glowing warmly in the woods. I didn’t anticipate weeping in gratitude! I feel full of unshakeable, everlasting love.

March 5th, 6pm. Recently I just understood that it's on me to make myself feel better and more rested. That I won't work less, won't do less, I just have to do more of soulfull practises in my life instead of tv shows, that I thought would help me rest. So now I'm here. Almost didn't fall asleep during this nidra, which I'm very proud about. Felt really interesting to feel my inner resource somatically, as deeply as never before. Not that I could desribe it, it was energy pulsating though me and my heard beating stongly. I also liked this video and was the 777th person to like it. As I checked, it means more time alone and with myself. And Nidra is one of the best for that! Namaste.

Ally, your meditations are so magical. I'm not sure if I fell asleep or was carried away into the cocoon of my inner resource. I remember going through the rotation of consciousness on the right side and then only partial of the left. The next thing I knew I was hearing your voice saying the inner resource remembers us. I immediately went to the top of mountain in a park nearby where I like to ride my mountain bike. There is a bench to sit and gaze at the horizon of the ocean below. I take in the beauty of the blue sky and soft clouds floating, the air is fresh and I experience the warmth of the sun and a gentle breeze on my skin. I can feel my heart beating from the exertion of my climb. I feel at my most peaceful self here and able to connect with my authentic self, I feel closer to god, in touch with my emotions and clear headed.

My inner resource comes from an old burnt out first growth, redwood tree between Felton & Ben Lomend in the Santa Cruz mountains. I can smell the deaf. I am laying in and a tiny touch of charcoal from the inside of the stump. I can hear my favorite bird from tainted in those woods. Sometimes I go there it is a warm summer day, and sometimes a foggy forest. Thank you for your giving and sharing on RU-vid. This practice is a godsend my wife.

This meditation is really fantastic. After nearly a year of brutal post-acute withdrawal syndrome from ceasing anxiety-related benzodiazepine use, this video continues to help me in the daily quest for mindfulness-based stability. My inner space is an odd one...it reflects my long-term love for creating collage art, so its is a composite recollection of the many studio spaces that have been set up as I’ve moved around the country. The 360 view is floor-to-ceiling images, hundreds in color and b/w, covering all 4 walls and every open surface, with my large art desk in the middle being lit by an open-bottom retro stained glass chandelier that highlights the plumes of incense smoke wafting around me. The moment of focus is the first review of artwork that has finally just been completed and about which I feel truly satisfied. Thanks for helping me reconnect with the spirit of that experience as I endure the hardest (and mostly artless) months of my life thus far...it really means a lot to tap into that feeling when creating feels impossible.

I loved visiting Costa Rica in my mind's eye, the blue butterflies , the waterfalls. the toucans, sloths and basilisks(?)...found myself planning a trip there one day...then remembering my own inner resource, a glen in the highlands of Scotland... the bluebell woods, waterfalls and the cheeky wee face of a red squirrel holding me in it's gaze from the safety of a tree trunk, an arms length from my beating heart...deep wellbeing flooding my whole body! "Letting go of the conceptual imagery , keeping the somatic bodily feeling.... just feeling the sensations of my inner resource....welcoming my inner resource as an unchanging quality of being that's always available"...So beautiful, such a gift! Thank you Ally ! Namaste! 🙏

blessings ✨ this particular nidra is such a precious gift. my inner sanctuary is a specific beach on a Greek island I traveled to years ago since I always had a strong connection to water. I am sitting on an empty pebble beach alone, surrounded by hills full of olive trees, listening to the waves washing the shore and observing the sun setting while the moon is already rising, I can taste the sea salt on my lips. utterly serene and blissful.

Dear Ally, What an inner journey this was. I had sections in the beginning where I was gone, Out. then I came back, being guided through my body. Then, journeying into my inner sanctuary, I saw a friend in my space, which was nice, And, later on in the session, I got to See and Feel My Inner safe space: my warm, safe belly. That was really nice to feel. Thank you! (2/11 at 7 am)

❤Wow, so beautiful ❤I have been modifying my inner refuge over the years, it used to be in a glorious oak tree, but has manifested as this warm summer cottage where I’m growing food and herbs, in a forest glade, relaxing laying down bareback on a horse that lives with its herd wild nearby, we are either galloping around, or in this session reaching up to pick ripe warm peaches from a tree. With your visualization I added a nearby hot spring like this magical one in Oregon called Brietenbush(iykyk) and added a greenhouse to my cottage for growing ginger and bananas. Visiting this heartspace feels warm, calming, and free like a long summer day. Thank you!🙏

I can’t wait to do this multiple times to build this more!! I did this at 6AM and visualized my cottage. The peaceful serenity of being near the water and in nature. This helped be cultivate feelings of peace, serenity and I felt very grounded! Can’t wait to build this more and tap into it in times of stress and chaos. 💕

I love this Jackie. I always visualize myself close to water when in meditation. Feeling serene and calm. I suppose that's probably how I ended up moving to Vancouver Island as well, to be close to the ocean. Thank you for sharing.

This sounds lovely. I am also a huge fan of being near water. It definitely brings that grounded peaceful feeling. I’m looking forward to trying this again soon and not falling asleep!

In doing this nidra a few times it’s been interesting seeing a shift in my inner resource. Water is still important but my location has shifted. I was to keep strengthening this in terms of dropping the visualization and keeping the feelings and sensations. I can see how helpful that is!

This was such a wonderful experience Ally. I have practiced this a few times this week but the first time my daughter woke up early and needed mummy, the second time I fell asleep as mummy needed rest! 🙃 This morning, I was really able to take in the full experience in an alert calm state. I loved the journey. Like you and Lisa, tuning into my inner resource takes me back to CR. I will provide more detail in our Facebook group after I journal 💜✨

I’ve now done this a few times this week also and Costa Rica is where I land. I can feel all of our presence there with me at times. I feel as though this Nidra might be a Nidra I return to all this winter 💕

Thank you so much Ally for this connection to my place of inner peace and ease. Your guidance has helped me deeply develop my feeling around the inner resource I have been using for years. Feeling of warmth, confidence, strength, enthusiasm and zest for life are now available to me through this connection. My grandmother was my rock and had so much influence on who I am. Being with her in her dining room gives me these wonderful feeling to call on now at a moments notice. 🙏

Hi Ally, I am back here again for the fourth time. This Nidra is an option in Module 5 (as you know) and so I chose to come back again. For the first time, I stayed aware throughout the entire practice. I feel so happy to have been able to be at peace..resting...but hearing you in awareness. Thank you for this practice. I am so happy to be able to keep coming back here. Namaste.

The more I practice this type of nidra, the more clear my refuge becomes. I tend to focus on feelings rather than fixed details, that works better for me.

First time experiencing this nidra and it was one of the most profound ones I did yet. Had a very bad night of insomnia and felt very tired and anxious waking up. This visualisation brought me a great sense of safety and peace. Also the imagery kept coming and I didn't want it to end. I am looking forward to keep practicing this inner resource 🧡🙏☀️

6:50am. Namaste Ally. Thank you for this beautiful practice. My sanctuary is my backyard. Sitting on the glider bench at dawn. The air is cool and smells of earth glistening with dew, herbal grass, and a hint of sweet alyssum blooms. The sky to the east is a vibrant wash of orange and pink. To the west I see soft blue sky and the reflection of the sunrise. The full moon is still visible. I hear cardinals singing and chirping, doves chortling, ravens cawing and bouncing around on the ground, and the occasional mocking bird song and hawk in the distance.

Thank you Ally! Yet another beautiful inner resource… about a year ago my soul journey awakened my longing for water and trees in a profound yearning. I continue to listen to this call in the form of a quiet lake and a babbling river which frequently step into my imagination as a simultaneous source of great peace and exhilaration. They came clearly to me in this guided moment and will be a resource I continue to travel to as I create my new realities and as I continue my work in frequency alignment. What a great inner resource. So much gratitude! 🙏

Namaste Ally, I entered the Inner Refuge ~ a place where I have felt very at Home, near the water with a seal dancing close by. I am so grateful for this ‘tool’ and I fully intend to practise often as I have the other YN’s , to make this a fully natural way to be in the world.. resilient and capable , yet peaceful and honouring of Life. ❤ UK 15.15

Really appreciate this practice. I have started my day with yoga Nidra for over two years now. Your voice and range of experiences has become my go-to resource. Today, my inner resource was a cozy cabin with a crackling fireplace, big windows looking out into a snow covered Michigan woods, with blue hay and cardinals busy at a feeder, our cat on my lap, my husband’s happy putzing noises in the background and a warm cup of cocoa in my hands. Perfect! Gratitude 🙏🏽

My inner resource was based on a personal experience in Bermuda on an isolated beach in St. GEORGE's some years back. We virtually had the beach to ourselves in that the prior days weather, and unfortunately subsequent days, was inclement. But this day was perfect: Warm pink sands, late afternoon sun,, rippling waves and fragrance of jasmine from bushes imbedded are as real today as they were then. Thank you for helping me call up the visceral imagery which has become my peaceful inner resource. Beautiful nidra Ally

Namaste. 7.40am. My body felt, warm, heavy and very still (in a grounded and balanced way) after practicing. I feel that my IR is starting to emerge and I am excited to reveal more of it with each practice. And best of all I don't feel the pressure to get it 'right' first time. Thank you for such beautiful and upholding guidance. Great gratitude and blessings to you. Namaste 🙏

It's so funny that when I meditate or practice Yoga Nidra, I have always thought of being on the beach in Samara. Costa Rica is my happy place, and I have been in natural hot springs, volcano hikes, and could really visualized your inner resource. Thank you for that! Namasté!
