This game showed how much the Canucks rely on Quinn Hughes to QB the offensive zone. Without him it was a struggle to keep and hold the zone for periods of time.

Demko just seems to have the Leafs number, if I remember correctly, he played great last season against the Leafs last year as well.

Sandin and Holl were our best pair while Muzzin was out. Holl was +6 with 3 assists in the 3 games before Muzzin came back. Muzz comes back they pair him with Holl again and Holl is -5 since. It’s pretty obvious why Muzzin and Holl doesn’t work as a pair. Neither of them have the ability to pass or skate the puck out of trouble. Holl played so well with Sandin because when they finally get the puck back in their own end all he has to do is give it to Sandy and let him break it out. It’s why Jake Muzzin was a really good defence man in LA and represented Canada at the last best on best tournament. Play mean, play physical only worry about getting the puck back and once he did give it to Drew Doughty and let him break it out. Most every good defence pair in the history on hockey had one defensive stay at home guy and one offensively minded guy. Keith and Seabrook come to mind. Muzzin and Doughty. The list goes on and on. The leafs have Rielly and Brodie. They need to find Muzzin that guy so that Holl if he’s not included in the trade can be bumped down with Sandin. Find a guy who can hold their own defensively but is poised with the puck, can skate well and can make a real good first pass. This teams going nowhere if they don’t fix this defence.

Can't lose a season in February against Vancouver. But they got a lot to prove yet!

The food analogy works even better than Steve got in to because even if you pick the hair out you're still going to be on edge for the rest of the dish because another hair could pop up any moment. You're never going to be comfortable for the rest of the meal until you finish it without having come across another hair.

Watching Downtown Steven Brown I like his Lybushkin and Crouse. I also like the idea of Schenn and maybe someone like Motte. You know get a right defenseman and share the load more between second and third pair and also pick up a bottom 6 forward for a playoff run. They need to bargain shop and I don't see really any team paying the asking price for a top 4 defenseman rn. I know I don't want to pay like a 1st and a 3rd for Chariot

The 2 dman we have that gives me heart problems is holl and dermott...those 2 are turnover prone...but id rather play dermott coz he can skate a little...holl is just a disaster waiting to happen every game smh

Absolutely the Leafs can be and are for the most part solid! however for me Justin Holl is a thorn in their side! as you mentioned the play with Bresser then when attempting to block a shot pushing Mrazek,then gets a penalty! and wasn't it Holl who lost sight of the puck in that game against the Hurricanes I believe it was? yup something's not right for sure!!!

Honestly....Schenn at at his cap hit is a no brainer and would not cost us our 1st rounder.

This was so much more frustrating than the Calgary game. We looked so good but we had the worst luck. How many whiffs and wide shots and terrible turnovers? Also Demko stood on his head.

The fact that the Leafs didn't lose on my birthday is just a blessing.

Luke Schenn has been crazy for the Canucks this season. Don't want to lose him, but it would be tough to keep him if a 3rd round pick gets offered up.

Losing games like this is important. It makes you realize that nothing is given. Outshoot, outplay, but come up empty...... A few games in the Montreal series last year were exactly like that. Of course they need to learn from them for it to count.

Dangle was very good in this, well articulated, overall a smart and detailed analysis

They put together a team with no defence and no goalie and no beef on the blue line or anywhere else … old man Simmonds is no one anyone needs to be afraid of not to mention all the invalid injured and injured prone that should not be playing in The NHL! … as soon as they are fired then the Laughable Leafs can get serious. Schenn is one of the best and cheapest options on the Canucks. No deal. If you want Myers and can figure out a way to fit him in your cap. I'm pretty sure JR will listen.

While everybody is talking about Holl’s mistakes, and getting goalied by Demko, all of which are legit, it’s amazing to me that nobody is mentioning how completely disinterested William Nylander has been for the past few games. Ever since the new line pairings, in fact. Several times, when the Leafs had the puck in the offensive zone, he’s just waved to the bench, and skated off to be replaced. While they have the puck in the offensive zone.! He’s also really lazy about getting off the ice when there is a line change, and he’s cost the Leafs a too many men penalty, TWICE. Why is he untouchable for criticism? I love him when he’s charged up and gives a damn.

When we said move some bodies out from in front of the net we didn’t mean the goalie!
