But the Whedon cut was the superior one. I mean, it still sucks, but it replaced a bunch of pointless padding and dramatic nothing with crazy things like levity and character development.

@@billjacobs521 levity. In a movie about stopping the end of the world? And deliberately not matching the tone of what came before it? To me that makes it FAR worse than Snyder’s version.

@@John-fk2ky Whedon's cut is superior if for no other reason than it's shorter.... though when analyzed it also makes considerably more sense as a story, because so much of what Snyder added back is mind-numbingly stupid. In Whedon's cut the mother boxes activate because of the despair caused by the death of superman.... not great, considering Superman ain't all that great in the first two movies, but okay, sort of makes sense Snyder's version? They activate because Superman's death signals Earth is now vulnerable, even though as far as even the Kryptonians knew they were a fairly mundane race anywhere but earth, which Superman discovered by cosmic accident in the first place. And even though between the arrival of Superman and the death of the olympian gods/fall of atlantis, earth was a pre-industrial civilization for thousands of years, completely unable to fend off somebody like Darkseid..... yeah, nothing. The mother boxes were literally waiting for a superman to arrive, then die, to remind him of where his macguffin is, So that he can send an underling that's already betrayed him once to recover the only thing he actually needs to conquer the universe, because he has a busy schedule of what appears to be brooding on a throne.... and that's just the prologue... yeah, take a moment to really unpack all that Snyder's version didn't really improve much. It may have made it more consistent, but consistent garbage is still garbage.

You say "current day" but that goes back to the original Star Wars. And hell, Fistful of Dollars was also a ripoff of a samurai movie. But thing is, there's only so many stories to tell--you're inevitably going to get more and more similarities the more movies and TV shows we make. The difference is, do you spice it up and transform it into something still mostly unique, or just hamfistedly copy it?

I honestly don't see what's even potentially good about it. Every single element is flat, under-developed, the barebones framewark of an actual idea. Sure you could completely rewrite EVERYTHING and add in a TON more stuff, but at that point, it's basically an entirely new product, so I see no reason to give the garbage we got any credit.

Yeah, ended up obtaining the non watermarked versions. Not sure if it was yourself or someone else, but they raised the point I should probably get the unwatermarked versions so there's no copyright issues. Probably the best advice I ever received on the Internet
