I was bullied for 10 years (or even longer), I only had two friends during this time and even they didn't always stand by me or even stayed away from me at times. I had developed a real fear of people and was afraid that I would appear cringe to others. But I later learned that I wasn't to blame for the bullying, I just wasn't a person who would accept peer pressure, I preferred to do what I thought was right and that didn't sit well with others at all. I've always tried to live a good life, not smoking, not drinking alcohol, dressing decently, etc. A lot of people couldn't handle that, so I was the outsider who was constantly bullied and left out by others. Even though I've learned that being bullied isn't my fault and my fear of people has decreased a lot, I'm still a bit afraid inside that something like this could happen again, which is why it took me quite a long time until I really trust other people. Whenever I meet new people, I'm a little afraid that they might not like something about me and that they will reject me again.

There's something I want to say, if you cringe at seeing the actions of your past self. First, don't see it as self-degredation. You were younger at that time, maybe physically, maybe emotionally, maybe expertise-wise. But now you're older. And with age and time comes wisdom and understanding. If you cringe at your younger self for something you still do or used to do, that feeling of cringe is actually a sign that you've improved. Ever cringed at your past self dancing or singing or performing? That's because now you can sing, dance, or perform better than you were in the past. And use it as reassurance - the more you do at your own craft, the better you'll become. Never let your past hold you back, and always take any mistakes you did in the past as watch-outs for you in the present and future. If you read the entirety of this comment, *steal the show and never be ashamed.*

this happened to me in school when I was younger, that's when I began to have low self-esteem, it started when I fell into the floor, and my classmates keep reminding me of these mistakes of mine whenever they see me, it's ok for me at first but then gossips started spreading and that's when I gradually started to hide and started comparing myself to others

@@unknownperson3342 i improved my looks. Besides the fact that i am very intelligent, not to brag but i graduated Valedictorian in high school. So that helps me out in every situation. Also i am very skilled i am self taught fashion designer. Then my only insecurity is my low self-esteem which is due to being bullied in childhood. In 2021, when the world was just opening up post lockdowns, I was invited to some event as a representative for my place in some cultural related thingy. I was riding the high of it. Then someone looked me in the eye at said event . Turns out, she was an old college classmate I have never seen in years. I felt seen. So I reached out to her via Instagram to ask her out. Long story short, it didn't work out because she has a boyfriend but that gave me the courage to speak my mind out and to tell people that I like them. This year 2023, I saw a guy I had once had a crush before. I've never seen him in years as well. So I reached out to him and asked him to model for my fashion line. I asked him to go out but he said he's not into guys. But we are good friends. Yes so to conclude I am pansexual demisexual whatever. But the way i got oout of my low self-esteem is that I opened myself up to love

Of my Autistic personality, having cringe moments is part of who I am as a person especially of my jokes and laughter towards a comment or story. I had a cringy experience today. We were in class, and for schoolwork, the teacher played one of my favorite heavy metal songs (War Pigs -Black Sabbath) and I started headbanging, dancing and playing along with the riffs on an invisible guitar, and everybody started laughing so I felt embarrassed, but suddenly the whole class started to do the same thing as a joke and everyone was laughing so I went along with it, and I just had a good time Sometimes, people see it as a funny thing and go along with it as a joke, and when that happens, we feel less embarrassed Also, could you do a video on creative block (I don't know the actual name for it), I'm struggling with my creativity recently, for ideas for homework or writing my first song and stuff, it would help me out a lot (Sorry if my English is bad, not my native language, and I already suck at expressing myself with words)

I never heard anything about "cringe" in case of psychology before. This is one ot those more important episodes, which gave me to think deeper. And I think it might be very helpful for me in the future, because I do have perfectionism issues and I usually set high expectations towards myself and in the end it all almost always makes me feel in the way, which was mentioned here. And yea... "self compassion". How easily we forget about it in life and later on we are hard on ourselves... P.S If ordinary users like I could reward such an episode with a heart like you-tubers do... I would totally give one here.

I love, how you - as per usual - show different aspects of cringe and shame. But in my opinion cringe and shame are very different. Cringe is more something you laugh at or shroug your shoulders. Then you move on. It is short termed. Whereas shame is prolonged and really destructive. It might be, because my picture of cringe is based on the term mostly used in social media. Still, I really wouldn't put the both of them in the same box However, I appreciate the video so so much, because shame can be so harmful and is often overlooked compared to other emotions, such as fear, anger or sadness ❤

The thing it's - for me - that I am a cringe person not matter what , the problem it's when people close to me make these "mistakes" my whole personality, like there's nothing else , sometimes I don't think too much about it, but lately I started to care more. When your friends or your family start to treat you as "the stupid one" or they just talk about you begin cringe non-stop, the joke starts to feel real. So am I really untrustable? Am I really an adult? Am I smart?, till you are thinking, "Am I worth?". Usually I think that I didn't grow a bit and I'm still child , that my goals are impossible and my life is a failure. Still I try , and I did ask specialist help , it's a long journey, to whoever is in the same case good luck!😉

I used to ruminate over conversations or mistakes I made over and over. But recently i started antidepressants in November last year and I now feel myself ruminating less and just enjoying the moment. I know they won't work for everyone, but I'm 29 and I wish I tried them a long time ago. Maybe life would've been better for me. Less opportunities lost, more friends made? I don't know...

People who tease or talk about your struggles on the fly outside therapy are cringy. As an introvert and someone with a neurodivergent brain, I find it difficult to be in the limelight in an extroverted society. That's why I admire Keanu Reeves; he is a great example of how an introvert can still be charismatic. Recently, I made the mistake of not pointing the camera toward me on my phone(MY BRAIN!) and instead recording my boxer shorts and legs stretching and leaning on the floor while in an online meeting. After realizing this, I expressed my embarrassment and joked about it; everyone else in the meeting also found it humorous. 😬😬

I once used the word cringe in a presentation by accident and was later told by this older gentleman that he had asked all his co-workers if they knew the meaning of the word and / or if it even exists. It also showed me just how old the workforce in that building really was. If I had this video back then, that would have helped a lot xD

By default my existence is cringe! I have a prevalent inner child and I have a lot of energy! It doesn't always bode well in social situations. Last time I had people over someone made it rain on a friend so I took a wad of $600 dollars and threw it at the person. The money didn't dispersed it just hit him in the face like a brick ._. he died..... Anyhoo, I have memories that are so cringe to me I verbally react, shake my head and quickly change the subject >~< it sucks when it happens when I'm trying to sleep.... it wakes me up too much. Idk how many times I have told my manager how it's embarrassing the way some task got done sloppily u.u where in retrospect it seems obvious. All n all, I am super introspective and goal oriented! So I focus on the future and where I see myself in 5 or 10 years! I try not to let the day to day things get me down, more so use them as a means to be better and more efficient!

I dont want to be talked out of perfectionism. I don't want to have a coping mechanism for failure, failure is not an option, I wish for a self destruct feature to always be reminded that there are standards to live by or else I will lose my head. I am fatphobic, cringephobic, intolerant, I don't like things that look unnatural or unnormal and sometimes wish the defect units to be scrapped.

As a guy with a critically low self-esteem and an instinctually self-destructive mind, I don't understand how I'm supposed to just accept myself as I am, as mentioned in the video. I just don't understand it, and I'm not sure how to make my mind not constantly tear itself apart, since my efforts of trying to fix that over the last few years have not yielded acceptable results. The way I see it, I'm not good enough to fix my own problems, since my problems are my responsibility and I can't and won't expect anyone else to just do it for me.

Every day you have to point out to yourself: 1. Something you like about yourself 2. Something you've done that put good into the world (ideally recently.) They can be really SMALL things, but they have to feel true to you, no BS. And then you ask yourself what you're currently stressed about, and give yourself the advice/comfort you'd give someone you care about. You can do this in your head, but it also helps if you write it all down. This is just what worked for me, good luck. (Also, if you pair it with prayer that helps but that's up to your beliefs).
@valethar8067
@valethar8067 Год назад
@@thisismyyoutubeaccount2470 Admittedly pointing out something like that which feels true to me is much easier said than done given my mind's self-destructive nature and the intensely negative self-bias that comes with that. Idk, it's hard to console your worst enemy, especially when that enemy is the same person you see in the mirror.
@thisismyyoutubeaccount2470
@thisismyyoutubeaccount2470 Год назад
@@valethar8067 I feel you. That's why in the beginning you have to use tiny examples. Like, even the fact that you wrote these comments, that you generally want to be better, speaks to something good that's inside you. That counts. The more consistent you are with stopping and noticing the tiny positive things about yourself the more your self-esteem will grow (but it will take time, and hard work, and it won't happen over night).
@valethar8067
@valethar8067 Год назад
@@thisismyyoutubeaccount2470 It's one thing to say and bring up those tiny examples, but it's definitely another much more difficult thing to really believe those things, especially when the only feedback I really get is a negative feedback loop in my own head... Like my self-esteem is low enough that if I were to look in the mirror, I'd not see even one redeemable detail in that reflection.
@thisismyyoutubeaccount2470
@thisismyyoutubeaccount2470 Год назад
@@valethar8067 It will be easier if you focus on action-based things (went for walk, read a page of a book) rather than image-based things, at least in the beginning. Tiny action-based things are easier to find pride in, imo, because YOU know the effort that went in. But it may take a while for self-kindness to feel natural, and that's okay. No new skill feels natural until you know how to do it. I'm rooting for you.
