Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, a need for admiration, and a lack of empathy for others. And here I discuss my own personal experience living with narcissistic personality disorder. Including the symptoms and behaviors associated with this disorder, as well as how it has affected my life. I also share some of my coping strategies and how I have been able to manage the disorder, along with helping you understanding your loved ones and their behaviors that may seem almost incomprehensible and potentially hurtful. Hopefully, my channel will provide insight into what it's like to live with narcissistic personality disorder, as well as what it's like for your loved ones. Thank you for watching!

@@ShaftShackDotCom I think someone needs to be blocked 😁 You have no idea how hard it is for a narcissist to be vulnerable and share their past which some might judge because of its content. What Jacob does here is strength. Sure he did say he opened this channel for some narc juice, but being vulnerable with his past in particular, is actually him risking people to judge him harshly because of its content. And you know narcissists do not take that..

I too had a teacher in (what we call Primary school, age 5-12) who used humiliation. I didn't get it too much, however she called a friend of mind who was overweight a baby elephant. I'm 61 now and still remember it clearly, still boggles my mind how damaging this is to a child. My parents used humiliation also, however it wasn't all the time, but it sure taught me not to do it to my own children. Peace to all x

My daughters teacher was really nasty. She told one of the kids no one liked her and she was really mean to them. My daughter and her friends told me about her so I went in the next day and gave her a dressing down in front of the whole class. She put her head down like a bold little dog apologising profusely. It felt so good to be in a position where I could put a teacher in her place. She was all sweetness and light after that and didnt pick on the children again. Job done. 😊

Sometimes the popular boys would dare each other to ask out average looking awkward unpopular girls like me at lunch just to see if we were dumb enough to say yes then run back to their table and kiss what apparently were their actual girlfriends on the cheek or lips then stare daggers at me like, "We can't believe you fell for that you loser, like I would ever want you when I have a dime sitting right next to me." So you're doing a really, really good job at describing dynamic that people who are NOT narcissistic have a hard time understanding: many empaths want to "fix" the narc under the assumption that to be so manipulative they must have been horribly abused in childhood. But in reality few were abused as we understand it ( physical, mental or sexual abuse). Many are either made to be narcs by growing up in very permissive, enabling environments with little to no boundaries and end up being very entitled oooooooor go through what you went through: they're used by one (or both) parent as a trophy, for validation and are expected to constantly perform academically or athletically, be perfect children, well behaved, well spoken etc...and are shamed and humiliated when they don't meet expectations. They are not encouraged to individuate and explore their idendities, they are shamed for anything that makes them unique .This is how the prodigal shame and rage that drive most Narcissists to act the way they do ( need to prove their grandiosity, need to control, need to manipulate) are born. Many are bullied, unpopular and learn early on that manipulation is the only way to survive. That's why letting go of such a deeply seeded defense mechanism is close to impossible...its literally their biggest fear, its suicide! I've never seen any narcissist describe it so vividly and with such honesty. Understanding this, and learning details about his upbringing actually helped me move from a place of absolutely loathing my father to being able to feel sympathy and compassion for him👏👏👏👏

I'm learning about this "difficult" (read: suffering from trauma) early teenager in my practicum who I strongly suspect has already formed a pathologically narcissist personality pattern. It's interesting to hear you talk about your elementary and highschool school years especially since his story has major parallels. Particularly in the forming of a cult around himself. But he's had a fall from the pedestal and is now a total pariah in his hs, for the fear of him. I'm really wondering what interventions are best in a case like this. How much can be done to effect the course of a potential personality disorder at this point? I wish it could even be said aloud. No one dare says the words. To say "I think this kid might be suffering from or be developing a personality disorder" is just not something you can say... PD's are like a dirty word. No one in the agency will go near the topic. I agree that kids need not be labeled, especially when these things can follow them in their records ... But... Off to the record I think it should be at least loosely acknowledged so that practitioners and clinicians could have relevant considerations.
@Thenamelessnarcissist
@Thenamelessnarcissist Год назад
It's a shame too cause if someone has a PD then the implication is there is abuse involved, so nobody wants to go there. But early intervention is one of the best indicators of a good prognosis there is. It's a hard situation to adress

I understand you i have 33, is like so. I speak with low voice. Is in my nature. I'm very calm, I can literally be without talking all day, people tire me with their empty talk and bad selfish energy. I literally no longer need to communicate with people, because most of what they say is either lying or pretending to be better than you, if you don't allow them to put themselves above you, they won't want to do business with you. At every new job, I'm always the first target of psychopaths, and they always go for me, because I'm calm, I can literally see the sparkle in their eyes as they think they're going to do mobbing. If you're calm it doesn't mean you're stupid, they literally start spinning when I shuffle the cards, they run away from me two meters later 🤣 as they say, 3 devils peek out from the calm. Just like you, I literally have to pounce on people and knock them down so that they at least run away from me, even though it's not in my nature. Otherwise, as an empath, I loved people until I saw that the better you are, the more people step on you, and when you're shit, they respect you and at least don't screw you over. Now I literally hate people and I don't trust anyone anymore, literally people from my close family tried to take advantage of me. I don't know what to expect more from other people. I think I'm becoming a narcissist, literally when I see a man I think he's stupid, or that he's going to cheat on me, so I almost avoid talking to people. And the situation that made me see that two brothers are both good and stupid, I once worked in an old people's home, two reali old man came and wanted to buy water, but they didn't take the coupon with which they would get a discount price because they asked me for that, to which I replied, ok, you don't have to go to the room now, I'll give you water, bring me that coupon tomorrow, I'll be there on shift. At which they laughed disgustingly and said, when you are so good, you should be used for other things, so that you can come to my house as a servant. and not only that, even one rude man told me bring me a beer, and you can take my dirty panties. to which I replied, you will get a beer and give the dirty panties to your wife. I literally realized through that job that everyone is actually looking at themselves, and that they are narcissistic. and that the fact that I was naive and thought that everyone was as good as me, and that no one wished me harm cost me many times in my life, I learned a lesson.

@@sach746 that the problem is that we trust people, and we give of ourselves, and in return they see it as weakness, as if we are stupid. that means I don't have any mask on my face, and a man should go out into today's world with a mask, literally freeze his face so that they don't see a single emotion on your face, because if they see that you are smiling from the heart, you are stupid. my sister is a narcissist, sometimes when we talk on the phone I smile as if I'm happy to hear her, she answers a disgusting short hello, and only business. I literally feel like an idiot, I need to joke with someone and talk about something honestly, but I have no one to talk to. people just watch how they will make fun of others and that is the laugh of making fun literally when you make fun of someone. Regardless of having a full blown personality disorder, I think many of us have these traits in them, even the saintiests of saints. Where you feel like taking revenge because something was so personal to you. It doesn’t make it right, and there are limits to which you should go. But pushed far enough we can experience some form of grandiosity. I think the key component here is the moral compass and empathy. And a clear view of what you would’ve wanted. Those are ingredients that keep you straight. I don’t know all the things you’ve done, but surely teachers and parents preying on the young is next level, I also still have rage, and do not have NPD, although I can feel how one could go there for the sake of maintaining an identity. All I’m saying is don’t feel bad for the anger you feel, that was more than justified. I think it’s brave to open up. I see a lot of people who could with a little humility of saying that they’re just insecure, scared and would like to position themselves above others because of the emptiness they feel. It wouldn’t get them liked maybe, but at least there is compassion there when you admit that, yup, I just didn’t know another way. It does account for the responsibility. Even if you still hate yourself, at least there is no doubt about that you were honest and open. Somehow I think you can come out of it with your awareness. But maybe that’s still my wishful thinking for the NPDs I’ve encountered. And it will not fully fix the hurt, so maybe some avoidance on my part. But I think you’re doing a good job, opening up. You can’t heal what you don’t take at face value. Be well. Rest well. Take care of yourself.

Thanks for sharing. It gives a lot of context to understand this condition. I would like to ask you, since you've mentioned in another video, that you were able to feel guilt for the first time when taking psychedelics... And since you are working on yourself and invested in therapy... Do you consider taking psychedelics therapeutically in an appropriate setting and with an experienced/skilled therapist ? There is some evidence that psychedelics can help with people that have experienced trauma... I know that there is a lot of hype and also risks with psychedelics but there is also some serious research and knowledgeable therapist. Maybe is not the right time yet, but it might be a great catalyst for ongoing therapy as it can impact your psyche with a depth that maybe "traditional" therapy has limitations, changing the hardwire. I'm sure as a narcissist you probably hate this but I feel so sad for you. I've got a narcissist in my life I really need to let go of but it's the same for him. I feel it wrong to abandon someone who already loathes themselves so much.

Out of curiosity, what do you attribute to the source of the narcissism to? Parents, peers, genetics, etc?

Your teachers were probably narcissistic themselves. Primary school teaching is a favoured profession for codependents.

Did you get abused as a child or did you get spoiled as a kid

I want to watch this through to better understand, but first, most kids are awkward, most people detest public speaking, and I cannot wrap my head around how or why anyone could still be angry over something that happened in grade school. So perhaps this goes in with other things I'll never understand, and I'll have to leave it at that.

You said you have adhd, and in another video you said your dad is autistic. Those are both highly heritable, have you ever been tested for autism?

I think this plays into how the victim mentality begins. A lot of adults with NPD still feel like the world is out to get them.

NPD is a defense mechanism against others, to protect themselves, emotionally and mentally.

Wow my heart goes out to child you. Fucking teachers can be horrible and a lot of the underpayed and underskilled teachers let their problems seep into their student's lives. Absolutely disgusting behavior as an educator.

The way they bully each other is all you need to know, most teachers never got out of the middle school mindset sadly.
