Hello Peter, Thank you for your nice reaction. I'm happy to read that the video created some value for you. Please feel free to let me know what kind of books or topics you are interested in. Maybe one of my other video's covered it already or you might inspire me for one of my next video's 😊. I wish you a wonderful day! Warm regards, Lieven
Thank you for this wonderful video. I first discovered The Prophet when I was in high school many years ago. This is my favorite of his works. I have given copies of this book to my friends. Everyone should read this beautiful and inspirational book.
Hello @LisaSmith-ie7gq Thank you so much for your kind words! It's wonderful to hear that The Prophet has had such a lasting impact on you since high school. It's truly a timeless and inspirational work. Giving copies to your friends is a lovely way to share its wisdom. I agree, everyone can benefit from reading Kahlil Gibran's beautiful and thought-provoking book. Thank you for watching and sharing your story! I wish you a wonderful day.
Thanks a lot for this collage of information and views to Bussels real manifestation of some of the art we see in the visual novels. I came across Schuiten & Peeters somewhen end of the 80ties, with the book “De archivaris”. I did buy later some serigraphs, which are still hanging in my house 😊. Since then, I also learned Dutch. I did buy different publications in both languages, besides German (mother language, French by education). Unfortunately the book stores which are specializing in BD/strip books, did dramatically change in my home town. So I have too “find” new publications, especially a bit more rare publications, such as the triage de tête and others are hard to find for me. Love that you showed the latest book, which I missed… Fantastic art, again. Lot’s of regards from Switzerland
Hello @chrs_d2000, Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! It's fantastic to hear about your journey with Schuiten & Peeters and your deep appreciation for their work. "De Archivaris" is indeed a remarkable book, and it's great that you have some of their serigraphs hanging in your house - they must be a real treasure! It's impressive that you've learned Dutch and collected publications in multiple languages. I can understand how the changes in bookstores have made it challenging to find new and rare publications. I'm glad that you enjoyed the latest book featured in the video. Schuiten & Peeters' art continues to amaze and inspire! Thank you for sharing your experience and for the kind words. Lots of regards back to you in Switzerland! 😊
The full understanding of Tsun's book actually comes from the more direct and poetic translation ... if yor mind is flexible enough on language , and unfortunately we in the west are most trained to seek single meanings from text. Like for Lao tze , and Chuang tze , there are complete and overlapping ...levels of comprehension. Theyre truly literary masterworks as fine as Shakespeare and Melville.
Very good, but it becomes painful when these words, spoken in a sweet, soft way (whispering) describe a situation we are living in, with increasing censorship (since that strange virus, to the current moment, in a certain country in the Americas)...
Thank you for your kind words! Happy to learn that you like the video. The long version can be find here: Addicted to this Graphic Novel Series ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fKKStT0KJzY.html I wish you a nice day, Lieven

Phew! I’m glad you revealed halfway through the story that the passages to parallel cities are fictional. I was almost booking my ticket to Brussels to look for them! Thank you for introducing me to Les Cités Obscures. This episode is a wonderful tribute to two artists who enable us see reality through a fantasy lens, and, therefore, enhance the beauty and mystery of our world.
Thank you for your enthusiasm about this episode... You know... sometimes I wonder... maybe there are these secret passages in Brussels... I just... didn't find them yet! 🤯😁
Πολύαινος, Στρατηγήματα. Polyaenus or Polyenus was a 2nd-century CE Greek author, known best for his Stratagems in War. You should include this book on your list
My misses used the art of war against me she lured me with some leg showing then for the last 21 years she has kept me prisoner and she is a lier she keeps saying she's going to leave me but when I wake she is still there 😮😮
Hello Muyanjajames22, thank you for sharing your thoughts. No, I think that science is never knowing. It is a continuous effort to search for truth, while never be convinced that it has found truth. Science is therefore different from philosophies that claim to have the ultimate truth. At least that is what I think. I wish you a nice day. Lieven
Thx. And I mean it. I hate war, it is good for nothing. However since it seems to be unavoidable, because we humans get caught up in narratives by leaders who try to divide us, we are prone to go to war. Therefore I study it. To know how it works and how it could be avoided. I believe in unity and collaboration between people. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I hope you also like the 2nd video I made on the Art of War ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YCoC-c1VWQM.html I wish you a nice day. Lieven
This was an inspiring video, Lieven. I will turn 70 by the end of this year, and have not read anything by Kahlil Gibran, but now I will. The Prophet is now in my library of audiobooks, and i will listen while taking a long walk the Singapore's Botanic Garden, which is just behind where I live. Thank you for sharing your inspiration. 🙏
Hello Patrick! Nice to read a message from you again 🤗 I'm glad to hear that you found the video inspiring! Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet" is truly a masterpiece, and I'm sure you'll enjoy experiencing it through the audiobook format. Taking a long walk in the serene setting of Singapore's Botanic Garden while listening sounds like a perfect way to immerse yourself in Gibran's timeless wisdom. Thank you for sharing your plans, and I hope the experience enriches your life even further. Warm regards, Lieven 🌿📚
You are very welcome Eddy. Thank you for your kind words and encouragements. It is for people like you that I make these stories. I wish you a nice day 🌟
The "three dimensions" are length, height and depth, not linear, square and cubic. But everything is cubic (solid), and the "three dimensions" are just points of views; in a fallen pole, for instance, what was height becomes lenght or depth. This is valid for any body (limited portion of matter). The same for time (which is dimension for energetic phenomenae), which may be past, present or future, depending on your point of view. And soon will accept the mind has three points of view: unconscious, conscient and super-conscient. Matter, Energy and Mind, the three manifestations of God.
I’m currently reading “Up in the Air”, the complete letters between the poets Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell. The correspondence offers not only touching insight of the relationship of both poets, it also gives me an understanding of the workings of the poet’s minds, the way they structure their poetry and deeper understanding of the poems themselves. Might I also take this opportunity to say how much I enjoy your Utube posts which have led me into many new and insightful reading adventures, please keep them coming 🙏.
Dear @lancelennon4565 the book about the correspondence between Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell, sounds very interesting. I did not know it. Thank you for sharing. It makes me happy that you enjoy my channel and that it brings you on reading adventures. Good to know that we are fellow travelers in the vast and beautiful universe of books. I wish you a wonderful day 🌟
Hello @priyadarshimohit Ok, I got that remark before 😁. I admire his work, hope one day my video’s are as good as his. (I have a long way to go 😅). Hope you enjoyed the video. Do you read books by Kahlil Gibran?
thanks for the three great videos about Bruegel. After watching them l bought the first book right away. Do you have a book about your observation theory?
Hello @id-ml2cp thank you for your kind message. Wonderful to hear that you liked the 3 episodes on Bruegel. It is for people like you that I made them 🙏🏽. No I don’t have a book on the “method” that I used, it is something that I learned through doing. In my job I have to observe a lot of people and this is one of the methods I like to keep in the back of my mind when consciously observing something or someone. FYI, I made an episode about silience on my channel. In which I use a painting of Bruegel to use another technique to gain information about a painting, namely to “listen” to a paining. I first read Gibran when I was 14, and he has become one of my favorite writers since. This is a wonderful episode about this great man and his favorite work! Well done!
Hello @enestaylan118 🌟 Thank you so much for your kind words on the Kahlil Gibran episode. It means a lot to me that you enjoyed it. 😊 How wonderful that you discovered Gibran's work at such a young age! Reading 'The Prophet' at 14 must have been quite the experience. It's amazing how certain books stay with us and become lifelong treasures. 📚 Your support fuels my passion for sharing stories about books and authors. I wish you a wonderful day and sending warm wishes your way!
This is a remarkable episode. It answered the same question I’ve had about the book and Gibran. His writings on Teaching and on Friendship have a new meaning for me. Seek good company, be fortunate to find good mentors. “Your friend is your needs answered. (…) If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.”
Great video, I subscribed. Constructive criticism though, I don’t know if others agree with this but I find the cutaways with music to be distracting and very annoying. It throws off the linear progression of the explanations and analysis you are giving. I understand that not everything can be done in one take. Cutting the pieces in together without a transition as a lot of other creators do, and at least for me as much preferred. The constant cut aways/music is almost painful.
lol. When I play games. (Like assassin’s creed, Deus Ex HR/MD, or Batman Arkham…) I lure the enemy into my “mountain” I find a location with plenty of hidden nooks to hide in. I quietly exit and stalk the enemy, find a way to get one back to my “mountain” and take them out. Then when the others come to find the one that’s missing. I spring the trap.
I read “The Art of War: Accurately Conveyed Edition” on Kindle and it is the most appropriately translated version ever. For example, it translated one of the five elements for victory "天时" into “Whether”, which is appropriate, rather than “Heaven” in other editions. The author has another book about the application in modern times.
Hello @timtian448 thank you for sharing your findings. Yes it is not always easy to understand old texts. Lots of work has been done by translators to find to most accurate and comprehensible way to convey the message of these ancient authors. What I usually do is reading several different translations of old texts in the hope to get a better understanding of it. Of course there might be better ways of doing it. Kind regards, Lieven
I have yet to experience The Neverending Story, but I would suggest another novel, by the same author, titled "Momo". To me, it is a fine story, made for children, that every adult should read, and I am afraid it oftentimes does not get the recognition it also deserves.
Hi @cekan14, yes momo is another story I grew up with. Unfortunately I don't remember the full story anymore. I think I saw a movie adaptation. Thank you for reminding me. I should definitely read it. I wish you a nice day, Lieven
I've been fortunate to have visited Nanjing twice, but one was for work, and I had no time for touring around. I have a cousin who lives in Nanjing, and I look forward to visiting him again, and will make a point of seeing this temple. Thank you for the recommendation.
Dear Patrick, It's so nice to hear from you again! From our little conversations, I understand that you have traveled quite a lot around the world. Wonderful! Hopefully, you will be able to visit your cousin in Nanjing soon. In the next episode, I plan to share more about Buddhism and Nanjing. I will showcase some beautiful old temples that have been restored to their traditional architecture. I hope you enjoy the upcoming content. Looking forward to talking to you soon again. Thank you for being such a loyal follower of my channel. Take care, Lieven
Living in Southeast Asia now 17 years, I enjoyed reading (years ago, really) The Gods Drink Whiskey: Stumbling Toward Enlightenment In The Land Of The Tattered Buddha.@@BoldBooksandBones
Thank you for your suggestion. Indeed a fascinating and complicated subject. At the moment I’m more focused on peaceful subjects like Buddhism ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NZTK1RaNz-g.html However I will keep it in mind. FYI, I made a part 2 on the Art of War, you find the link here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YCoC-c1VWQM.html Warm regards, Lieven
