One other filly in Ozz was a horse that won the Melbourne cup three in a row. Her name was Makaby Deva. So here in Ozz she is a legend as the Melbourne cup is the race that stops a national.
But, Zenyatta has my heart. She TALKED to us by swinging her head with that beautiful mane and her feet. HER DANCING FEET. She LOVED to run past all the rest of the crowd, switch gears and floor it. I love that horse and followed her life for years, until I made myself turn away after the death of Princess Z. I couldn’t take it. So, now I’m trying to catch up. Those days were magical days. Mike Smith was THE MAN to me! Hahaha! Long Live Zenyatta, Queen Z. Thank you for the joy♥️ 🐎
I was wondering why he didn't switch to his right lead up the stretch... does he have a dimple in the right side of his neck above his shoulder? And did that cause a problem that ended his racing career?
One thing that for some reason really seems to throw Rachel Alexandras most vocal fans for a loop is the perceived difficulty of her Preakness race. For casual racing fans the Preakness is likely much more recognizable than the Breeders Cup Classic but that is only because of it's placement in the Triple Crown races not because is is harder. They saw when Zenyatta became the first female to win the classic and since it had only been around since 1982 where as it had been around 100 years since a female won the Preakness, so to them that I guess seemed more impressive but anyone who knows knows there is no comparison in difficulty. The Preakness is absolutely nowhere near as difficult. As evident by the fact that only the top best couple horses from the Preakness are able to enter in the Classic, which is horse racing's championship race. They don't have to take my word for it just compare the career results of the 2 fields (Rachel's other 2 male races were even weaker fields). The Breeders Cup Classic is made up of the very best horses from around the world each year. I think what must confuse those fans about the importance of the Breecers Cup is the fact that Rachel's trainer and owners spent all 3 years of her career ducking the competition. They tried different excuses but the truth about why they didn't come was pretty evident and her name was Zenyatta. They tried to say it was not wanting to run Rachel on that surface , but considering she had not only already ran on a synthetic track but won. So that excuse makes no sense. Of course this was further disproven when the 2010 event was not only held on dirt but at Rachels most raced track. Of course that came on the heels of them backing down from the long awaited showdown that had a purse of 5 million if both horses showed up, only one did. When it comes to comparing the 2 the fact that anyone at any point really thought they were equals let alone thought Rachel was better is silly. Probably my favorite and most telling statistic is the fact that Zenyatta had as many Grade 1 wins as Rachel had wins total (13). Sadly after getting beaten by a horse Zenyatta not just shared a stable with but would absolutely brutalize on the track when training the "Showdown" was no more and thus were left with delusional fans forever using the "What if?" mindset. By the way Zenyatta furtheed the humiliation of Rachel's loudest fans a race later when she too met up with Zardana on the track. Despite being forced to carry an insane 129 lbs (a full 11 pounds more than Zardana and a good 5 pounds more than Rachel ever carried in her career) Zenyatta flew by her like she dropped an anchor. Watching that race again I can still blur my vision and picture Rachel running her heart out, dueling with Zardana down the stretch with everything she had as a giant blur flashed across the screen on her way to running down the leader, carryign 9 lbs less by the way)
Could Winx and Zenyatta even have raced eachother, or were they too far apart in age? It would have been a good race to see, but then maybe not fair as Winx raced best on grass and it looked like Zenyatta raced best on dirt.
How ignorant are you. You even hide your atrocious choice by only showing ONE race by Flightline. You have no clue. Or your jaded by that oil money. You maybe, maybe got it half right. Life is Good would smoked that joke of a horses whose specialty is a mile. Or didn’t you watch 2021 Breeders Cup. Where Life is Good smoked the one mile field. And Life is Good was also undefeated at 11/8 mile. Flightline is the best horse I’ve ever seen. Including Secretariant and the Great Frankel. But the only way to really see. Is when the progeny of flightline start racing next year and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that so I want to sell one.. Good day, Sir!!!!;
Only contest winners get a chance to visit her (Rachel Alexandra)? and only two times per year ? Since she's not breeding why not allow more visitors...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like this filly.....She is headed for a comeback in this 2023 year.....I believe she does have the heart of a champion....... Sometimes fillies just take time.....The filly who had my full respect and love was Ruffian.......Queen of the fillies....Once in a lifetime a trainer,owner, jockey could only hope for half the horse she was.....Best of luck to this great gal ..Echo Zulu....God speed...
I wasn't yet in the habit in those days of going out of my way to make appointment viewing of many races other than the TC and BC, but I did happen to catch the Pacific Classic shown here (*5:53 ---it was a mile and a quarter, not a half), and it's still fresh and clear in the memory now 20 years on. Always root for his kids and grandkids.
Thank you for the video, it brought back memories and was the perfect way to start a chilly gray Sunday morning in San Francisco with a huge mug of coffee. #TEAMRACHEL
This is just sad.. the horses skeletal system isn’t fully developed until at least 5 years old. No one should be riding a fucking 2 year old horse. Let alone forcing them to run as fast as they can with a rider on their back. All of these racing deaths aren’t just some accident. There’s so many deaths in one year. Does no one see the pattern? Common sense aint so common
Thank you so much for saying this! Every time I see horse racing where they have any horses below 6 years old I start crying. It makes me feel sick. Also when jockeys hit their horses it makes me hope that they fall off and die. I think steeplechase should be banned as well. It’s just not safe at all for them to be jumping at that speed. Too many jockeys and owners just see the horses as money making machines to dispose of when they can no longer make them any. People often say the excuse that they’re treated so well but that doesn’t make the abuse on the racetrack okay.
I didn't know that he is Gun Runner's father! That Pacific Classic was sublime! Maybe the best ever. But since then been eclipsed by Beholder and the Supreme Flightline, who beat a good field by 19 3/4 lengths..
Remember, at this time of the year Flightline had won only the Met Mile. Baaeed had accomplished all that he would including stretching out to around 10f. Not yet to happen was his flop in the Champions Stakes. Meanwhile, we had yet to see at this time of 2022 Flightline go Secretariat-like on the Dubai World Cup winner Country Grammer and millionaires Express Train, and Stiletto Boy and the MGSW Royal Ship in the Pacific Classic nor his record margin of victory in the Breedeers Cup Classic when he ran with Life as Good through fractions nearly fast enough to win the BC Sprint and BC Dirt Mile, then effortlessly blow by that super-talent that is Life is Good as of hr were a common claimer not a 9 for 11, 8 time GSW, 4 time gr1 winner whose only prior losses had been to Jackie's Warrior by a nose in a gr1 at 7 furlongs and a 4th in the 10 furlong Dubai World Cup. Olympiad, with 5 GSWs in 2022 alone and Taiba who won 3 gr.1s in 2022 could never threaten Flightline and were reduced to horses that were basically running for the minor awards.. Flightline made very good horses look silly to be out there competing with him. The Euro comparison is not Baaeed but Frankel. And for me Frankel's fuller resume is the deciding factor.
Great races! I wanted to individually "like" each one...what wonderful equine & human athletes, such great teamwork. I remember a few of these horses as younger colts (in the Triple Crown, for ex.)...they had speed, but they weren't quite wised up. Absolutely solid performers now, such great jockeys too
there was a mare called ''black caviar'' who won 25 out of 25 a world record that stands today if you exclude the mighty hungarian mare kincsem 54 wins undefeated.
