I'm going to have to make the front porch the new Flosstube spot! Thanks Megan! I'll check out your progress on those Earth Day pieces, aren't they so fun?
I just started Namarie. I’m doing it on a stone color. My husband wants it to look like it’s “etched” in stone. The fabric and floss you’ve chosen are beautiful.
Hi Keri! Oh that's a fantastic idea for fabric. Do you have an Instagram? I would love to follow your progress on that! I'll look you up. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a note, I appreciate that! Happy June stitching!
Thank you for speaking about mental health. I enjoyed hearing what you had to say! Also, after your nasturtiums bloom, they will leave seeds behind. You can save them and plant them the following year! No more buying seeds for them again (unless you want to). 🌸
What a fabulous finish, congratulations!! Looking forward to hearing about the de-kitting project. Thank you for being so open about your mental health 💙 LOVED the garden chat! I’m adding Siberian Wallflowers to my list; I’m a sucker for a perennial, so much less work. Off to watch the bonus episode!
❤❤❤ Those wallflowers we're a great surprise. And that one plant now has a whole bunch of new shoots coming off the bottom. It's been lovely to have. I've de-kitted on paper, on my wips spreadsheet, now I just need to go through the actual project bags and physically de-kit. I know it's been a busy month for you. Hope everything is going well ❤
Congratulations on the big finish! It's stunning! Love your new recording spot and beautiful natural light. Also enjoyed so much Catherine and Ale's Flosstube episode. I actually met them through you! You mentioned Catherine and Victoria and I started watching them ever since 😊thanks for everything you share, the topic about mental health is so relevant and important. Thanks starting the conversation... And your garden is such an inspiration... a closed friend moved from a house to an apartment and gifted us some of her plants. I am really trying to keep them alive. Some found the perfect spot of light and shade. Others are struggling 😅 I will perseve 😊 thanks again for the sharing and the Tokapu III mention ❤
Hi Ana! Aren't Catherine and Victoria such a joy to watch? Now I have your chat with Catherine lined up as my special treat for today after I finish chores 😂 Yes, persevere! You can do it 💪🏼🌱 LOVE Tokapu 3, they're all so pretty! Happy June stitching!
Amazing finish. Looks absolutely stunning 😍 That mermaid’s folly is beautiful but it’s so huge. Thank you for all the mental health talk. I always say finding a good counselor or therapist is like going on a blind date. You can do all the sleuthing you want but you don’t know if it’s a good fit unless you meet. It’s ok if it doesn’t work out. Keep looking you will find the right fit for you. I love that shaking bottle analogy. Love your fabric and floss choices for Mother Nature 😊 Great summer plans Nice garden update. Love all the flowers and your eco friendly view of gardening
I think I might go with my Jade PTP aida for Mermaid's Folly- aida stitching that beast of a project would be easier than linen! I might need to pick your brain on ideas for what to put on my large piece of fabric from Jessi, I'll send you a pic when I get it.
Omg #DecolonizeMySampler!!! I love that you spoke about changing your lawn into a garden. Wade and I were just talking about this yesterday on our walk. We have some really beautiful houses near us and SO MUCH GRASS. It was a lightbulb moment when you said You don't have to do the whole thing perfectly all at once... That hit me. Thank you.
Ah thanks Michelle! Yes, SO much grass. I just don't get it. And then most people complain about how hard it is to maintain! Nature wants us to take things slowly. I'm amazed by how much more patient and observant I've become by just being ok with doing the garden in small bits each year. It's transformative! Like with anything else, bucking the norm and surviving putting up with people's conventional thinking leads to some of life's most beautiful outcomes!
Nitya I had to watch it twice to make notes to comment! it was great both times, Your reverse applique piece looks lovely. I am one of those that is frightened by reverse applique! Those big sheets with cross stitch patterns I think they are sold at markets, so unlikely that you would be able to find them online I think. Maybe if there is a small Mexican bodega somewhere where you live, depending on the population they are serving, maybe they would have some! And why don't you chart the Mexican sampler yourself? That is what Mayela is doing, she is looking at elements of various samplers that she likes and she is charting it for herlsef. 614 Stitcher was not on my radar but I will give her a watch. My fave flosstubers are those that are real and understand that cross stitch is just one part of life, happiness, sadness, joy, grief, mental health challenges, graduation, etc etc, is all part of life, we come ontgo our channels and full humans, living a full life with great things and challenges, So i am all for it. When we do the dye talk, we can ask popel in the USA to donate to your fundraiser if they want to donate. And so good to mention therapy, it can be so helpful. I really liked that you mentioned the cartoon you came accross. I came accross it on insta too but I don't remember how. Yes, cultures are so different. For my mental health I mostly do craft, especially knitting and quilting, cos there is no interruption, it just flows and empties my mind whilst it allows me to think through my challenges. I am also older now and I know what situations to avoid, Some social encounters are just not good for me and I now know that. Yes, Leeds has at least one University, I used to live there :) I love your alliums and yes to no lawns, food not lawns is a slogan I have heard. Food for humans but also insects and other animals. Your friends garden sounds great. That is what we are trying to achieve here. slowly but surely. when you were talking about your magnolia I was thinking hostas and ferns, and then you showed the photo with hostas and ferns! SO good. I really enjoyed your garden tank. And than you for the recs. Have a lovely months.
Congratulations on the Bernard’s Books finish - it’s beautiful! LOVE #DecolonizeMySampler - great idea and very needed. And loved garden chat. I am becoming a plant person, and want to get better pollinator and local plants in my garden - and less grass! Speaking of decolonization, lawns are colonial!!
LOL Megan ok you'll have to let me know what local plants you find near you! I'm always curious about what people choose. Oh lawns. We don't all live in manor houses in 18th century England, sorry everyone! And I do know folks who want to tiptoe into digging up parts of their lawns and feel the temptation to just conform to the boringness of suburban lawns. Resist!
Thank you for your kind words. I only hope that my students feel the same way 😂. I actually bought the earth day collection for this particular goddess and Maryam’s Mother Nature.
I forgot to say, I recently heard on a garden podcast “if something in your garden isn’t being eaten by critters, your garden isn’t a part of the ecosystem.” I know it’s frustrating to lose that corn and I hope that troublemaker finds food elsewhere, but I’m trying to keep that quote in mind this year. My troublemakers are cats and chickens, who have PLENTY of other things to eat and places to dig, but no! 🤦♀️
You are my constant voice of reason 😂 I'm having a terrible time with slugs at the moment! We haven't had as much bird activity as we've had in the past to keep those bugs in check.
