Nice video Tony.. cant believe a man of your experience has never done striding edge before.. i hadnt until 2 months ago.. kept putting it off for like 4 years.. personally found swirral edge the more technical of the 2 but aye.. have you been mucking about with colors again?.. looked very boldy green.. good stuff, tek care lad :)
Cheers Dave. Don’t really know why I’ve never got round to Striding Edge before. Not in a rush to go back though - FAR too busy! I’ve settled on a regular bunch of settings for my vids now, from under-exposing during shooting, to applying colour management during editing. I film on my iPhone & edit with DaVinci Resolve on laptop. How did your camp go?
I went over on my ankle about a year ago, scared the living daylights out of me. What i thought was grass, wasnt, it was a rather deep hole, and i went straight down it. 2 miles back to my car. Took weeks for my ankle swelling to go. Whilst in Wales in April, walking along fine, then wham straight over, same thing. Now i walk slower and with more care. I'm glad to hear you are ok.
I have been waiting all week for this. That was brilliant in every sense. So glad you are OK after your fall, like you said, you were very lucky, it could have been so much worse. Charlie is fearless, what a great companion, you make a great team out there. Stunning scenery. Loved it. Made my Sunday 🙂
Well Sally, I’m a bit lost for words - what a lovely comment 🤗 So glad you enjoyed it. There were some fantastic views, and the “ridges” were spectacular. That ankle which let me down tweaked a couple of times today too. Hope it’s nothing serious 🧐 We’re weren’t quite so lucky with the views either 😞 Charlie is an absolute hero in the hills - puts me to shame! He only has 3 Wainwrights left to do now, in about TEN years less than it took me!
@@TonysTrails I didn’t realise that there was a lower path option at the Bad Step. I’ve done it a couple of times, once queuing with lots of people, once in really bad weather with just one other and a sheep at the top. So that was good to learn too. Mm..hope your ankle is 100% stable soon 🤞 Charlie is definitely a hero, so lovely to watch. Looking forward to the next adventure. Happy “special” birthday for next week 🎂🎉🎉
@user-dj6gd7jn6f Thanks Sally. Due to the time between filming and posting, I’m already over that “special” milestone. Charlie still has his to come though 🎂🐕🎉
After spending a couple of days camping in the mountains, I've come to appreciate the little things in life even more. This video perfectly captures the rugged beauty of the outdoors.
Thanks Cathy. It’s been a while since we had a decent waterfall on the channel. Charlie has so much fun in the hills. Glad he brings a smile to your face. He always cheers me up 😃
didnt know about that route up seat sandal... i just used the gill up the left of it.. that view behind walking up is the best thing about it i think, more impressive than the summit.. good stuff, tek care lad :)
@@TonysTrails I live in the South West, and it is getting warmer here now. Off to Devon shortly, would much rather be North. Will keep working through your back catalogue 🙂
Anjoyed this, did it over the xmas period, and for a lets say small wainwright you get some fabulous views from the Dodd, and it is a steep hike up. Loved it. Just need to do Sheffield pike now
Thanks Cathy. Charlie HATES having a bath! I usually dry him off as much as possible with his towel then let him dry naturally before a good brush to get the mud off.
@@TonysTrails I was staying in Ambleside last week and it was pretty dreadful, as usual! Have been staying there for the last 20 years though as convenient, but it’s wonderful when you head out into the fells and leave the noise behind.
@user-dj6gd7jn6f I’m not a fan of any of the towns on Windermere Sally. Of all the towns in the Lakes, I can just about cope with Coniston & Keswick. We went up Wansfell from Ambleside and even all the hills were packed too! Which hills did you get onto?
@@TonysTrails Loughrigg Fell, east side lope of Fairfield Horseshoe, Red Screes, starting on Kirkstone Road. LF and RS were my favourite as I hadn’t done before and there was no one around! Wanted to do your Great Rigg then to Stone Arthur but the weather wasn’t good. You are fortunate to live in /near such a wonderful landscape! Look forward to the next video 👍
@@user-dj6gd7jn6f You were lucky to get Loughrigg to yourself! Shame you didn’t get to do the Great Rigg walk, there are some stunning views. The climb back up to Alcock Tarn near the end is a bit of a sting in the tail though! Glad you’re enjoying our adventures. Happy hiking from Charlie & me.
Hi Geoff. Glad you enjoyed the Shap Fells. We tend to take “alternative” routes where we can. Most of the Shep Fells are a bit rough, wet and “off piste”, but what we like about them is the solitude. We just have one more walk to do there before we have completed them.
Nice one chief I am think about Armboth Fell & High Tove at the weekend as I have them both to do and pleased they were not as boggy as you were expecting, although we have had a lot of rain this week. Not the sexiest of summits but to be fair the surrounding views looked amazing, cheers Alan
I took the route from Hartsop where it's free parking. My God it was steep and the weather was absolutely awful. Until I returned down through the mining buildings and it was glorious sunshine.
Wow, thanks for the dedication Sally. Glad you’re enjoying them. I’ll be the first to admit though, that some of the early ones are a bit rubbish, especially the audio 😳
Hi Cathy. Sorry to disappoint you with the waterfall. I didn’t fancy the climb up and over High Snockrigg when it was downhill all the way to the car from where I was 😟
Hi Rob. That’s brilliant. Have you a preference for which day? I hadn’t realised when I pencilled it in that it’s bank holiday weekend, so Wasdale will be busy. Have you been up that way before?
Hi again Rob. Just watching Leeds v Norwich and if Leeds make it to the final (on 26th) it’ll have to be Saturday 25th for me. Should be a bit quieter too.
Thanks Sally. If you’re particular about making sure you actually reach the tops of hills, it’s not the trg pillar on Harter Fell, but the outcrop you can see behind me.
